was lumped though from that morning drift to 7/2

That one cost a grand and has never looked any good over fences, win op or no wind op.

markets are tricky to read but with these switchers they must have a very good idea whether it's a) now got 20lbs in hand OR b) as bad as it ever was

I'm not suggesting they are laying these horses by the way before i get in trouble.

Win or lose they still get the training fee.

Are these not false gambles by the books to shorten horses that can't win whilst the likes of the Skeltons keep their close bookmaker association and betting priviliges on the ones that can.
The industry on the whole will recoup loads on these types day in day out everyone's a winner as they say (apart from the ordinary punters). |

I didnt know whether it was gambled or not but it was 5/4 in the paper and went off 11/8. Imo they knew full well how it'd run.
Then the other day they had Peppay Le Pugh - who everyone had down as a hound and who was supposed to have had a leg - and it went off at 5/6. Yet they must have known that had 20lbs in hand and was up against nothing. As you say as ordinary punters how do we know if it's a PLP or a Breeze Along? ![]() |

By:
My point with PLP is im surprised it didnt go off at 1/3.

what's your opinion on the title mate?
|
|
By:
think the prices are about right tbh
skelton winter horses will be coming out soon |
|
By:
not much liquidity on here unfortunately, would gladly dump my skelton bet @ 2s
I've no interest in betting dickie 1.4x hughes v little chance imo every1 else a million |

Have a stake in a moderate horse with a nearby yard to the Skelton's. Asked what was he now worth (guessed £12k as he'd done moderately well & we'd paid £20k) the trainer said well if i offered him for sale tomorrow Dan Skelton would fall over himself to get him for £12k, win 3-4 races immediately with the current mark (approx 100) and then the horse would be on a decline afterwards. It depends how long you want his career to last. DS has a different remit to most trainers, that is his angle, but it obv comes with a higher horse turnover.

depends what you want out of the game but winning 3-4 races with a 100 rated horse and then moving it on sounds far better to me than owning it 5 years and getting 3-4 wins out of it and then what at the end of it? not much more (if any) sell on value and 5 years training fees lighter
you do the math |
|
By:
not great for the horse though

I totally agree WSB, chasing was the long term aim really (sadly it got killed the next season) but i was out voted on the matter. DS was also much more expensive lol!
