Put a forecast bet today on the 2.10 at Beverley doing the obvious forecast stealth fighter to beat Bertog...apparently all bets are void...there was a late withdrawal but surely rule 4 should apply in some format not voiding the whole shebang...anyone come across this before??
"A non runner will result in all matched bets prior to the withdrawal being void and the market will be reformed."
Not a great experience I'd agree. I've yet to see anyone propose a better way of doing it though.
This comes up about every month.Extract from Rules of a Forecast market:"A non runner will result in all matched bets prior to the withdrawal being void and the market will be reformed."Not a great experience I'd agree. I've yet to see anyone propos
Betfair have the technology to 'reconcile' the Betfair SP in a millisecond - between the Market being Suspended and then re-opened for 'in-running'
They have also devised an algorithm for the Cross-Matcher BOT - that matches unmatched requests with money for/from horses other than the one that you are trying to match; when liquidity is shallow. The Cross-Matcher, miraculously, then hoovers up everything 'in-running - to it's benefit.
Surely - given the above two examples - Plus the basic complexity of Betfair itself, Markets and SETTLING - it is not beyond their wit to write an algorithm, incorporating the Betfair Reduction Factor, to accommodate a NON-Runner in a Forecast Market - and leave the Market up and live, accordingly.

"The Cross-Matcher, miraculously, then hoovers up everything 'in-running - to it's benefit." Could you expand on that? I thought I understood how the cross-matcher worked but that wasn't part of my understanding.
I had a go at working out how to do RFs on Forecast markets last time we were discussing this, and I couldn't see an obvious way of doing it.
Imagine a 6-runner race where No 1 is a NR.
1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6 have the same total probability of occuring as horse 1 winning the race (they're the same thing), so you can use horse 1's RF in the Win to allow for the loss of those selections from the Forecast market.
But what about the probabilities of 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1, 6-1? There's nothing in the Win market to represent them.
I'm still looking forward to someone proposing a way of doing this that works other than saying "it can't be impossible". I don't imagine Betfair like writing off the commission every time they void these markets - if there were a way to do it, I imagine they might have tried it by now?
