It finished upsides poets word and crystal ocean in a 2 mile gallop last thursday.poets word and crystal ocean had to be ridden vigorously to get on top in the gallop.

I'm sure that's tongue in cheek, but the longest gallop in Newmarket would be the Limekilns which is around 9.5f in distance, the Albahathri is slightly shorter.
The links is a circular gallop but is not used by the big trainers. |

Didn't use the limekilns,newton abbot were kind enough to take the hurdles off the track and let them gallop

Poets Word and Crystal Ocean in a 2 mile gallop, is anyone for real? I think one has to err on the side of caution about the present lofty rating of Poets Word whose only claim-to-fame is his defeat of a below par Cracksman on inadequate trip and firmish ground. Until Cracksman runs over 12f and gets the softish ground he excels eg The Arc (hopefully) or prior, one cannot be certain Poets Word has improved beyond recognition from last season bearing in mind he only managed to beat Crystal Ocean (not a formidable Gp 1 protagonist) by a neck, I believe.
