The strawberrys/blackberrys used to go to the local jam factory, paid for our one weeks holiday down the coast Used to run free in the orchards without a care in the world. Making camps out of Apple boxes, catching crickets newts elvers sticklebacks butterflys in sweet jars ![]() Would never swap my childhood even tho we didnt have much for kids of todays playstation world ![]() ![]() |

my childhood was mainly spent in the docks and disused warehouses in rotherhithe south london in the 60-70s ,money was tight so we kids had to find our own ways of making it , used to jumo over the back of a local pub (the **** &monkey )and nick the empty beer bottles and take them over to a nearby pub (the albion or the little crown ) to collect the 3d refunds . also used to collect the scrap metal from the warehouses and sell that ,but the best earner was the public telephone boxes ,bt had the great idea of fixing the cover of the phone with a philips screw so we used to undo it with a phillips screwdriver and put a bit of cardboard over the slot where the coins dropped into the strongbox and do the screw back up and go back 2-3 days later open the cover and bingo a couple of quid in coins ,dont seem a lot but we had 8-10 phone boxes on the go and on a rotor it was cash every day .......great days!

We used to do similar with the phone boxes, Foyles.
![]() We also had a condom machine in one of the pubs, where if you gave it a good thump all the money would fall out. It would've been far more profitable if I'd have lived in a village where the residents practised safe sex! |
