Horse probably has had problems to be straight into a seller.

You wouldn't want to see him running on GF ground now.

Surely had to go by one of the leaders in home straight ?

|

curious to know how much some people made out of that race?

Vibes was nearly 2-1 for a place as soon as the gates opened. The betting vibes weren't good at all.
I noted a bit of 'breakdancing' from Frank in the straight. ![]() |

what a race horse run off the last bend and they tried to give the fav the race and still could not win
|
|

Only went through the sales for 6k which is ridiculous for a 7 yo that won a wokingham off 100 2 years ago, has dodgy knees apparently, probably hope it gets claimed.

Ran better than others fancied in the market, and still ran appallingly for it's rating

I bet Pomme De Terre in the race and layed the fav. For me Pomme De Terre is worth claiming, it didn't handle coming down the hill at all and came very wide into the race and stayed on very well late on. Step up to 7f won't go a miss.
The fav's glory days are behind him, he will do okay in this grade, but he has problems and personally I expect anyone who claims him will have a lame horse in the morning, the poor horse should have been retired and given a home for life after winning them a wokingham when they knew he was gone, not papered up sent to the sales and will now probably spend the next year or two, being bounced round yards and running in claimers and sellers, until he breaks down for good. |

Problem is the handicapper will be reluctant to drop him quickly with his current connections. It will take 12-18 months to get him down to a mark sub 60, to where he will need to be to win, with something in hand and by then the horse could be 8 or 9, and will have naturally regressed further. I suspect his run today was hoping someone would claim it. Would not be surprised to see it in a claimer for 5-6K soon, just to try and get shot of it. |

Probably off to Laytown for the 6f race next week 0-75 and €7000 to the winner. Could be sound business if it wins.
|
|
By:
tbh Dom' it ran more than ok off 85 a week ago for current connections last week...wont need to be sub 60 to win again...if they can get it in a 0-75 before the end of the year on the AW and with the right application (namely money) I expect it to win..

Race 3 - 3:20pm
THE RICHARD GRAY 80TH BIRTHDAY SELLING STAKES (CLASS 6) Following the race, Jamie Spencer reported that VIBES (IRE), placed fifth, hung left-handed. |

@Overseas
Wont win a 0-75, ran okay off 85, you're right, it ran to about 77, but he found little off the bridle as he did today. This horse horse will not be good enough to win, until he can win on the bridle, and not have to come under pressure, that wont be happening in a 0-75. |
|
By:
ok domino thats your opinion....but fwiw...the horse has never been a bridle horse...ran in tough handicaps around the 100 mark less than a year ago..ok legs may be on the wain..but the run off 85 on 21 Aug shows (beat about 3 lenghts) that it can win off a mark not too south of that...these connections know the time of day and would never second guess their ability to get a horse to win they really want to....Wednesday night at Kempton or a Friday wolves with the right draw, 0-75 and its bingo once the dice have been thrown...

OVerseas
They do know the time of day you are correct, and you are correct the horse NEVER used to be, but the horse was hopping lame at tatts and had awful knee's . The same connections if lining one up for a touch wouldn't risk losing it for 7k, I know Johnny and Alice very well indeed and also 2/3 of their owners who used to have horses in Lambourn with Kirby riding and moved them to Johnny, so I do know their MO, but NOT every horse is a good investment, and the reasons this was in a seller today was because the horse is on the way out. |
