He has a mile gallop in West Ilsley, called Gilberts, it's on the winter gallops, but it goes uphill for 2 and a half furlongs, the downhill for a bit, the uphill around a left handed bend, then 2f downhill finish.

Teaches horses to get balanced and handle different variants.

Lord Huntingdon said a horse that was galloping at the top of Gilberts was a very good horse, due to how it tests them.

It doesn't surprise me that Micks 3yo's and older do well at tracks like Ripon, Chepstow, Brighton, Goodwood and Beverley.

i put it down more to soft ground rather than tracks. recall he was winning lots of races in april when the ground was soft.

He is one of a few trainers who has winter and summer gallops, so can use grass gallops all year round, so horses would get used to handling soft ground conditions, whilst most yards will only have access to grass gallops during the spring and summer months.

Some horses just appreciate the beauty of the downland scenery.

Good luck Still Learning, not one I could entertain. Running against very strong opposition today and looks outclassed. people will argue it's carrying no weight but having been soundly beaten in a 0-60 and a 0-65 off it's current mark, i fail to see how the step up in class to a 0-70 with horses rated above the grade welcome too. I don't know how many 0-55 or 0-60 nurseries there are at present, but this comes across as poor placement by a trainer, who should know the Golden rule, of keeping yourself in the best company and your horses in the worse.

room for improvement, dom?

Potentially but he is never going to be a 70-80 horse, and that is what you need to be in this race to win, I am of the opinion weight doesn't beat horses, class of race does, so to me it receiving plenty of weight makes no difference to it's chance. In a 0-60 it's proven it can be competitive but not good enough to win. In a 0-55, 0-52 or 0-50 it would be the grade of horse I would expect it to win, but in 0-70 company I see now reason it has the class to win.

fair comment, place hope at best then

Ran well Still Learning, but definitely a horse that will again go up in the weights without winning, if placed properly, it could win one or two.
