I won a few quid on a Patent last year, I didn't have a grid card and needed a grid card for best odds. the girl behind the counter, scanned the card of one of the regulars to give me best odds and it made me an extra £620 by her doing that. I gave her £100 as a thank you. I see nothing wrong with that. Without her help, I wouldn't have made the extra.

Yes most definitely I tip, I only really go to one betting shop and that's a Hills a 15 minute walk away. The manager is a lovely bloke and would go out of his way to help anyone. If he is single manning I'd bring him in some lunch, fish and chips or whatever and if I get a reasonable placepot up I'll give him a tenner for a drink.

As said on another thread. I used to tip after a lumpy win and it didn't stop each and everyone of them giving me the bum's rush when told to by "The Man". Bunch of Bella reading, FOBTy promoting, mathematical illiterates!

Oh yes, but that was a long long time ago in my regular bookie. It was Grand National day, and I gave her a bunch of slips; one of them was Red Marauder at 33/1. I told her it wasn't mine, and she said have it, it could be lucky. I did, and the rest is history. They would also advise me of any return on bets with a non-runner/s and/or miss-written eg doubles/treble as a trixie; yankee as a patent, etc.
I was not a big punter however, I'd buy them drinks if I was getting one for myself or takeaways for lunch occasionally (usually saturday) or when they were snowed under with customers/work. I'd be allowed back prices (if i was late to the counter); I also knew the manager (socially) who later became the Area Manager.

I do if I get good service but you get some who slam the money on counter hating the fact you won so I give them nothing ! Most are very polite and yep I tip then , all book maker staff receive poor wages and work hard

Having worked in bookies until a couple of years ago I can say it was really nice when someone tipped you be it a £1 or £20 it makes up for all the scum you have to deal with on a daily basis .The people losing on FOBTS and accusing you of pushing buttons behind the counter, the ones who expected more winnings than they got and kick off even though they couldn't work a bet out to save there lives . And then there is the drunks and drugy,s .£7.83 is no where near enough ,so think on if your shop staff are nice show them some appreciation .

If they've given you some kind of service that has specifically helped you out personally, fair enough tip them.
If they've been the usual (gruff/slow) service, yeh right

Had a bookie try to void a winning treble on football in a shop I was never usually in - ended up accidentally overpaying me in embarrassment when he had to pay me out eventually, gave him a tip...?
The other regular one I used to use, the old bird continually tutting and huffing if I put her out asking to 'take a price' (the cheek)...so pleasant to use these places.
Don't really blame them, must be carp job, but tip them, lol
