Wtf was that from Cliff, questions need to be asked as it could have won 3l but wasn't asked! That was a Real headscratcher! Did Faye think they had to go round again??
Report ihal essex August 25, 2018 9:24 PM BST
I cannot believe that the riding of Cliff is going unchallenged. Please watch the race again and justify the jockey' s lack of action. If it comes go light that Faye had a brainstorm, freezed up, unable to ride a finish, then so be it. Yes, I lost a lump on Cliff but am curious as to why the ride was so abysmal. Is the trainer or owner happy with Gate's performance? Is anybody in authority going to ask questions. I'm tempted to take action in the civil court to at least get an explanation, but know full well the racing establishment will pull together to deny an honest answer. Shocking episode made worse by Hythe lack of any investigation!!!

Chased leaders, driven inside final 2f, soon challenged, kept on and every chance final furlong, held near finish
Report ihal essex August 25, 2018 9:42 PM BST
Broadsword, that race analysis is nonsense,  Cliff was never asked or encouraged  in the final furlong. Worst case of a non-trier I have ever seen. Would love to know reaction of connections as to whether they were disappointed with the ride but with the corrupt racing media machine not willing to ask questions then, sadly, this disgraceful episode will go unpunished or even investigated!

knowing Cliff's racecourse history +

the fact that Faye knows it from home

I dont see owt wrong with the ride

Riding the ears off it 3 out to 2 out, she probably had nowt left and the rail likely helped the winner.

I know Faye a little due to her being friendly with and riding out for friends of mine. She hasn't got a dishonest bone in her. It looked to me like Cliff started to hang right with her and she was trying to get him straightened up. For those questioning the lack of whip use, she's had enough rides now so that people should know her riding style. She rarely uses the whip because she concentrates on trying to keep them balanced.

Absolutely no chance that ride was crooked. Faye isn't the strongest jockey around by any means but then she is a 7lb claimer. As was said earlier she tries to keep horses balanced and gets them to run that way. And anyone who knows Cliff would be well aware that its suited to a quietish style of rider.

After watching her on PALINDROME SOUTHWELL 1:50.

If she cant keep a horse balanced and use a whip at the same time, she will be forgotten about by the time her claim drops to 3lb.

For me there’s a difference between a winning ride and ride that wins don’t think a place was ever in doubt

Faye is not young and is very late into the game and that will be a huge downside to her.

From December this year she can no longer ride in apprentice races, as she is 26 in December and has only had her license a season or so.

Yet she has worked in racing for a variety of yards since she was 17/18, and she used to work for Alan Berry according to notes about her online.

Not being to ride in apprentice races from December will make life very difficult for her.

But given she has ridden for many years and is 25, I wouldn't be assessing her like an 18yo out the racing school who is inexperienced.

She will struggle from December when Tinkler no longer gets half her riding fee.

You make it sound as if there's something I should know delta Shocked

Why wouldn't you domino? She is inexperienced as a race rider. There'll be plenty of veteran work riders around the country who would be all at sea in an actual race.

She worked in a few yards because she was following her ex jockey fiance around as he tried to get his foot in the door somewhere. She had dreams of being a jockey I think and a few promises were made by at least one of the stables she worked at to support her with that which came to nothing in the end.

She pushed forward with getting a licence when her fiance decided he wasn't going to get anywhere and that her ambitions should take priority. What happens in the future will take care of itself. I doubt she had any illusions about what she could achieve and just getting a winner on the board at all would have been a dream come true. 13 more winners on from that first one will be living the dream for her.

Marcce

If that's the case, then there's every reason why she won't make it. Victor Santos was an absolute waster, he bounced from job to job in Lambourn. Must have worked for every yard, had many chances, second chances and third chances. If it's the case she followed him around not putting her career forward then that is very sad. No you don't chose who you fall in love with. But Victor had so many chances in racing and let down every trainer who ever gave him a chance.
Report Marcce August 28, 2018 7:25 PM BST
Her 'making it' is all relative though domino. I suspect she made it in her eyes the day she got her apprentice licence. Then when she had her first ride and after that her first winner. What happens from now remains to be seen but I'd guess she's already surpassed her wildest dreams and everything else is a bonus. Good luck to her.

As for Victor his Lambourn days came before I knew him. He was with Berry and latterly Richard Ford at the times I first met him. I did get the impression he was a little bit naive but what he always had was an almost overwhelming self belief in his ability to be a jockey. In the end that self belief played a part in the events that led him to go back down south and the naivety probably played a large part in the horror show at Chelmsford that pretty much put paid to him as a jockey.

Done well there, more impressed that despite a wide draw which you would think prime for coming stands side, she decided to drop in to the other side, so she got no trouble in running to come up the centre, rather than risking not getting a run up the rail. Intelligent there.
