I'm just about to take my dog for a walk down the Knavesmire. I know there will be a lot of horses there but I think it will be a good idea, Psycho hates horses almost as much as he hates the colour blue, but I think more exposure will help him get over this

Battaash has twice put up sensational figures on a downhill track where he has been allowed to blitz. However away from that track, his figures have been 10lb less consistently, he simply is a horse favoured by a speed orientated track. On galloping tracks, he just burns out.
Nothing wrong with the horse, just his best form is highlighted on a track which plays into his hands.

Tbh I wouldn't touch the horse with a barge pole after that....The bubble has well and truly burst for me....Shame because I thought he was the real deal.

I think 6/4 is the most non-value for a Gp 1 for the rest of the year unless something amiss found post race. A price of 5/1 might tempt me as he'd be past his best.

past his best,so wrong, hopefully nothing amiss will be found and he will certainly bounce back if he goes straight to paris,6/4 is short now but on the day that could be huge, draw dependent

Mystery as to how he has twice come unstuck at York.
It is a speed track that favours front runners. It should be right up his street. He didn't even blast out today as he was led by at least four others. The moment he was asked to pick up he just emptied.
You can understand Ascot with the stiff finish and the difficulty in making all.
It is not as though all his form is at Goodwood. His Abbaye win was just as impressive as his Goodwood wins, if not more so, and he also has two wins over Sandown's stiff five. He is not a horse who barely gets the trip.
Sad that some people are so quick to rubbish the horse.

His Chantilly win was impressive but it was also in very soft ground, where he was basically allowed to go clear, and nothing made any inroads to him on the ground. The fact was the horse was unchallenged. I think that is the key issue many miss, if he gets challenged and hassled early on, he appears to do too much and can't finish his race.
In both his Goodwood wins he has travelled very well in daylight and not really hassled , but in the York defeats and Ascot he was if anything probably forced to go faster than he ideally wanted to and pressed the whole way.
He has looked his most impressive against inferior opposition at Goodwood and whilst on his day he may well be impressive, it's worth noting this is a horse who has a history of wind problems and has been operated on in the past, and there is every chance, he struggles to refill his lungs with Oxygen which means when you hassle him he does too much and flattens out, but when he can cruise along with no pressure, he doesn't put the pressure on his lungs and therefore is able to finish his race.
I personally would like to see him try 6f myself, as he shapes to me as the classic sprinter who has a strong cruising speed, and just keeps galloping but doesn't quicken, so over 6f he would prove a lot harder to catch from the front, but he under less pressure and more likely to see out the trip, as he will be able to do things in his own stride, whilst over 5f, he is harassed for the lead against the top opposition and for all he can cruise along, when forced to work, he lacks the ability to quicken again, which is the difference between him and the best 5f horses in the world.

Allowed to go clear or nothing could go with him? I prefer the latter.
At Goodwood and York he wasn't hassled for the lead out of the stalls because he didn't lead. On one occasion he picked up when he hit the front, on the other he didn't. On both occasions I think Crowley would have wanted to sit still for longer but couldn't because of the speed across the track. Same thing happened on his seasonal debut with Kachy on the other side of track. Some of the great sprinters of the past didn't have to constantly cope with handicap size fields spread across a track. It would obviously be that much simpler for any sprinter to race in a small field in one group.

Haven't read all the tread but can't have him at 6f. I think he's a Goodwood /Epsom horse and he's better with a bit of cut. Maybe too fast today. Many handicappers have needed a very sharp five to show their best. Maybe same with him.

DD, think you're right about Haydock. I put the sub-standard performance down to lack of race fitness but I think he needs holding together as long as possible. If there's cut which others don't like he can likely cruise into the race longer as at Longchamp. Interesting trainer and jockey haven't a clue.

and this genius is finding fault with several posters( putting up double figure priced winners) for not contributing anything!
the ante post forums no 1 fav backing mug whose logic is always flawed.
"better off at the weights" "drifted from 4/6 to 5/6"

Heres a few ideas just my views Dont Ever bring Battash to York again! And I would like the horse abit wound up pre race rather than settled. Goes against what everyone says about sprinters. I always like to see sprinters on the edge on their toes, meaning they are ready to race.

regards battash lets be honest that group 2 race at goodwood would have been a poor group 3,yet the pundits because as we found out toiday all backed it, went into the usual hyper mode about the race

ffs ruk still banging on about battash,he,s ran about a pound below form compared to blue point on ascot running, and finished miles in front of the horses he finished miles in front off in a shocking goodwood group 2 , you,d think he,d won a dozen group 1,s the way the pundits are crying through their wallets

Given the way the Ascot race was run I would hesitate to make a direct comparison. You appear to have conveniently forgotten that Mabs Cross was behind Battaash at Ascot. It would take some effort to win a dozen Group 1's over five furlongs.
You don't have to lump on a horse at a short price to realise it has run below par.
