them's are the photo's willie dreams about.  1.01 a child could call it ... 24 grand please
Report wondersobright • August 22, 2018 3:05 PM BST
doyle is a much better rider imo
Report granitjack • August 22, 2018 3:05 PM BST
Doyle far, far superior. Job swap should happen imo
Report MJK • August 22, 2018 3:07 PM BST
Different result if you switch the jockeys. Of course the 'experts' say the jockeys don't matter.
Report granitjack • August 22, 2018 3:07 PM BST
Swap the jockeys and the fav wins by 3 or 4 lengths...
Report differentdrum • August 22, 2018 3:09 PM BST
In my opinion neither can be trusted on a favourite.
Report acey deucy • August 22, 2018 3:10 PM BST
I think Buick is slightly better.
Report acey deucy • August 22, 2018 3:12 PM BST
I mean when did Buick ever think about leaving Racing to become a Plumber ffs.Plain
Report stridingedge • August 22, 2018 3:16 PM BST
Doyle got to be right up there with his return on favs last couple of years.
Report acey deucy • August 22, 2018 3:17 PM BST
Both very very good imho.
Report domino14 • August 22, 2018 3:21 PM BST
Yesterday in France, Buick rode the field to sleep on a lesser fancied Appleby horse.

I personally felt the Goodwood form of the fav today was suspect, with Dee Ex Bee never really travelling and not progressing and Sun Maiden running no race at all, so what the form was worth was hard to know. Old Persian beat a solid field at Ascot and every reason to feel the run came too quickly for him at the Curragh. He however way you look at it had equal if not better form than Cross Counter coming into the race.

doyle is about +17 (on BSPs) from his last 1000 rides on a fav so that is absolute bollox

Report wondersobright • August 22, 2018 3:26 PM BST
that's winners above expectation, not P/L
Report Whippin Piccadilly • August 22, 2018 3:27 PM BST
Well done Domino, you got that race spot on AFTER the race!

Horses can have better form coming into the race, but that's not an excuse when IRS clear the other one should have won. As for yesterday's race, absolutely nothing to do with this race.

Report MJK • August 22, 2018 3:30 PM BST
*its
Report domino14 • August 22, 2018 3:36 PM BST
I didn't think Cross Counter done anything wrong and raced up the best part of the track for me on the rail, just felt Old Persian had a bit more grit where it mattered.
Report ashleigh • August 22, 2018 3:39 PM BST
got well turned over there.
Report MJK • August 22, 2018 3:39 PM BST
We'll agree to disagree. I'd back the second if they met again though.
Report Tallywagger. • August 22, 2018 3:41 PM BST
That was like when they come over at Brighton. If you don't get there first, you're fooked!
Report wondersobright • August 22, 2018 3:41 PM BST
he got the favoured rail & the horse did not have the foot to pick up (shorter trip than ascot)

pocket talk if you are blaming doyle there imo
Report domino14 • August 22, 2018 3:42 PM BST
Except the horse who got there first went too early and stopped dead into 5th in the final furlong.
Report Tallywagger. • August 22, 2018 3:42 PM BST
He never got the rail.
Report stridingedge • August 22, 2018 3:43 PM BST
The only difference there with a clear run would have been less of a margin but winner did that easily.
Report domino14 • August 22, 2018 3:44 PM BST
Benbatl raced up the rail from 2f to the line, once he got past Thunder Snow.
Report MJK • August 22, 2018 3:46 PM BST
Winner hacked up to be fair
Report domino14 • August 22, 2018 3:47 PM BST
Yup Winner outclassed them all.
Report differentdrum • August 22, 2018 3:47 PM BST
Oh dear, reaching for the pocket talk desperation line. Winner probably the best horse but did Doyle make a mess of things? Obviously, to anyone with an unbiased opinion.

briefly he did at the top of the straight

Report Tallywagger. • August 22, 2018 3:48 PM BST
Doyle had a perfect pitch from the start. When they turned for home he didn't expect the leaders to go all the way across to the rail. By the time he did realise it was a few seconds too late. Gap gone. Race over.

Robbed of a great race between the two imo.
Report wondersobright • August 22, 2018 3:49 PM BST
Winner probably the best horse
with the wfa & over 1m 2f...100% the best horse imo

winner has won 3l pulling up

no other jockey riding the 2nd would have overturned the result
Report Whippin Piccadilly • August 22, 2018 3:50 PM BST
York suits the winner much better than Poets & back at Ascot it would be a lot closer. But you still couldn't be certain who would come out on top seeing as RL is still improving.
Report stridingedge • August 22, 2018 3:50 PM BST
differentdrum you did state earlier that you wouldn't trust Doyle on a fav so that's far from unbiased Wink

And there's no evidence that supports your fears on that score as I (and wonders) posted earlier, he is right up there in terms of returns from riding favs against what the market has expected.

He's not going to ride everything perfectly every race.
Report wondersobright • August 22, 2018 3:54 PM BST
correct SE

aside from the fact I think that ride today was fine, you don't judge jockeys on 1 ride anyway

that's why I pulled up the stats his last 1000 rides on favs +17 compared to market expectation
Report acey deucy • August 22, 2018 3:57 PM BST
Doyle looked anything but Mr Cool there.Laugh

Report wondersobright • August 23, 2018 3:38 PM BST
add that 1 to the stats
Report granitjack • August 23, 2018 3:40 PM BST
Brilliant ride if you ask me Excited surely Ballydoyle must be watching that thinking why are we employing Ryan (I couldn’t be less interested if I tried) Moore....
Report wondersobright • August 23, 2018 3:47 PM BST
agree

you could tell he got the pace right the way the race unfolded in the last 2f...so many cheap yards gained
Report differentdrum • August 23, 2018 4:58 PM BST
That's 2/9 winning favourites for Doyle at the 3 major festivals. The two winners being Sea Of Class and Move Swiftly, both of whom on the day had a ton in hand.
Report stridingedge • August 23, 2018 5:11 PM BST
trumping 2 years of profits
Report wondersobright • August 23, 2018 6:12 PM BST
ya cant beat a small sample stat can ya Laugh
Report stridingedge • August 23, 2018 6:20 PM BST
The only point of contention I have with dd is his statement that Doyle wasn't one to trust on favs, of course he's entitled to his opinion on how he rates him as a jock.
