MJ has seven entries declared at York tomorrow ... in two of the races he is three-handed, yet Fanning is not riding any of his runners. He is riding for other trainers against MJR in three races he is booked for.
I am aware that there is no formal retainer arrangement between MJ and any of his jockeys , but it does strike me as a weird situation nonetheless.
There may of course be some perfectly rational explanation ...

pencilled in for plenty of rides for the stable later in the week, including Nyaleti in the Group 2 at Goodwood

As they like to tell us, they look closely at jockey stats when considering jockey bookings, and while I don't know why Fanning isn't riding for the stable today, since 2014 he's 0 from 25 at the Ebor meeting!

Joe has taken some stick on here at times but he is a terrific judge of pace - so many of the jockeys these days and that includes some at the very top could learn a lot from him ....

Usually got a similar chance staying at home than riding a winner for MJ at this meet.
