there looks a chance that SYMPHONY might just have got in lightly off a mark of 68 imo. very promising debut behind Ginger nut at Windsor , she was beaten just under 5L behind Heartwarming at Sandown, who went on to run second in a listed race at Newbury behind the 90 plus tared Shumookhi. she got her mark with a staying on 4th, to a Haggis hotpot at Newbury. it's a tough little race, with a few sure to be fancied but from the yard that won the race last year, at around the 18/1 mark,20's in a couple of places, i think she might well out run her odds and give me a run for my money.
Agree with you - looks a very competitive nursery for a Monday afternoon but her opening mark does look very workable. Have had a little on her e/w at 20/1. GL.

I gave this filly an entry in the old notebook for that debut run, and fair to say imo the two runs since have been a bit underwhelming, as confirmed by slightly deteriorating RPRs, when it wasn't unreasonable to have expected significant improvement.
Perhaps she's been a nursery project, but another theory could be she needs a bit of cut, as the times that night at Windsor suggested they'd done a 'good' job with the watering, and quicker ground since might not have been ideal.
Of the not-so-obvious ones, though she hasn't exactly been missed in the early prices, I'd give a word for Kwela, who caught the eye last time at one of those Newbury meetings where it didn't look a good idea to be racing towards stands' side, though despite finishing 'only' 7th in that novice, the assessor appears to have bumped her mark up 2lb. However, just wonder if she'll need longer trips to be seen to best effect, as dam's side of pedigree not short of stamina (half-sister to a 12f winner, dam a 12f winner and a sister to, would you believe it, Pigeon Island!).

as always George cheers for the input. i saw Kwela was a majority of blue on oddschecker, although i'm always a bit wary with these as its so difficult to get on the night before and many seem to go the other way come 10 tomorrow. i take on board what you say and hopefully she isnt regressing, just thought at the prices she had to be a bet.
best of luck whatever your playing tomorrow, hope its a good day

GL dealer. I'm fancying Open Wide 7.00 Windsor. Odd to find a class 2 sprint on a Monday but the hoss would have been much closer in the Stewards cup with a run and this is no Stewards cup.

I actually posted the below on my lay thread earlier ...............
The EW selection i mentioned earlier is a Michael Bell trained filly running in the nursery at Leicester (2.20) this afternoon. I watched a couple of video replays last night and think she's a runner of interest.
Porcelain Girl.
Progressed in 3 novice stakes, culminating in a couple of minor placings.
Won a class 4 nursery at Doncaster next time out (backed into 11/4f). Raced from the rear and Jamie Spencer looked confident throughout. Had to be switched, but once clear she quickened up nicely and came through to beat my Lippy (a good yardstick) by 1L.
In hindsight (such a wonderful thing) she may have been thrown in off a mark of 71, receiving 16 lb from the runner up.
She was raised 7 lb for the win that looked fair enough at the time. Michael Bell probably thought she was well handicapped and entered her for a 25K class 2 nursery at Newmarket.
She was quietly fancied at 8/1, but never got into the race and eventually finished 11th of 14. Reading the SL and RP form lines it would appear at first glance as a poor run, but i beg to differ.
She jinked at the start, lost at least a couple of lengths and momentum in the process and was always at the rear, in fact, was around 4L/5L down before the first furlong had been completed. JS didn't rush her and she remained at the rear until the the dip where she moved a little closer to the field. Coming out of the dip, she wandered left, right and left again, although not losing ground to the extent as her start.
I think Jamie realised she wasn't going to be concerned in the finish after that and allowed her to coast home, but in any event was only beaten 6.25L.
She's been dropped 1 lb (runs off 77 today) and although she's back in a class 4, may have to improve a little to win.
Nurseries are not the best betting mediums, but i think she's a solid EW bet at the odds. I was matched at 11.5 on the win, but to date my place part remains unmatched.
Dealer and George,Nice analysis, good luck to both I actually posted the below on my lay thread earlier ...............The EW selection i mentioned earlier is a Michael Bell trained filly running in the nursery at Leicester (2.20) this afternoon. I w
Nice write up Andrew. Have had a nice saver on Porcelain Girl @ 10/1.
As with George I had Symphony in my notebook after her debut and had a decent e/w bet on her at Sandown, but she drifted through the day from about 7/2 to 7/1 and was never in the hunt. She looked to be crying out for a step up to 6f. I even had a little e/w bet on her at over 40/1 at Newbury where she ran well enough - got pipped for 3rd by a 125/1 shot.

Gregorian,(first season) the sire of Symphony has produced 6 winning 2yold's so far, all 6 being fillies, all won gf/gd ground, all at 5 furlongs, the average winning distance for 2 yold on her dam side is 7f,again with gd/gf being preferred, coupled with its form so far looks a solid bet to me,gl.

2 good judges going for different horses and Hugh Taylor weighing in with Sabai Sabai, certainly a race to watch especially as the prices have gone.
Good luck gents, persuasive arguments for all 3.

well done Andrew and a great run from yours George, no excuses for mine, got it way wrong with her.
good comments though and great that some will have been on the winner

dealer, I think the only hope for that filly is that it's a ground thing with her, judged on the times that night at Windsor and she does seem to have a knee action.

Many thanks for the nice comments guys, she won well, and can win again in similar company specially if she sorts out her start (did the same LTO).
George, WD with Kwela, we almost had the forecast
