Spot on WSB. These Irish marks are a joke. Why do we let horses from another jurisdiction into low grade races, UK racing doesn't need them. UK owners sit and suffer every single time.
Report xmoneyx • August 18, 2018 2:51 PM BST

Michel, you don't see UK runners in low class hcaps in Ireland. What races are UK horses plundering?

If you say bet them you're missing the point entirely.

Report michael59 • August 18, 2018 3:18 PM BST
CJ you are missing the point , no matter what grade of race if you stop irish horses plundering our races , you stop our horses going over there for whatever race . tbh you really are being silly here , if your arent happy with the irish coming over for a race dont get involved in said race . im off for a brandy sheeesh

Report CJ • August 18, 2018 3:25 PM BST
What has the lack of opportunities in the Irish racing schedule got to do with it? It's not the BHB's job to provide races for them. Laugh

skelton have a different MO imo

Report TheFear • August 18, 2018 3:28 PM BST
same MO chief
Report wondersobright • August 18, 2018 3:28 PM BST
ie getting them from other yards, getting them 100% fit, their wind done, on better ground etc
Report wondersobright • August 18, 2018 3:29 PM BST
no it aint, most of skelton improvement can be attributed to 1 or more variables imo
Report wondersobright • August 18, 2018 3:30 PM BST
the way his horses hit the line @ chelt this year on really soft ground confirmed my thinking
Report TheFear • August 18, 2018 3:31 PM BST
imo the wind thing will be where did this improvement come from, it was the wind op yer honour. In-house vet big benefit to fatty
Report wondersobright • August 18, 2018 3:35 PM BST
ok fair enough
Report wondersobright • August 18, 2018 3:35 PM BST
its vomit inducing watching it though
Report michael59 • August 18, 2018 3:42 PM BST
err perhaps CJ the lack of opportunities in ireland is a massive reason why they come here , and aslong as they pay their race entries why shouldnt they race here u prat . now run along fool
Report wondersobright • August 18, 2018 3:45 PM BST
look how that's ran after doing everything wrong, its a joke
Report Kriskin • August 18, 2018 3:47 PM BST
Should have been a 5 timer.  Horse couldn't settle and only beaten a neck
Report CJ • August 18, 2018 3:49 PM BST
I don't doubt that. My point is why does the BHB allow it. We have enough sub 100 horses of our own to accommodate these races, we don't need imports. I don't blame Elliott etc, he's doing the best for his owners. Genius trainer.

Perth racecourse has a history of encouraging trainers from far flung areas , from Perth obviously , to send runners to the track . The committee/board that run Perth , " put up " trainers and provide a certain amount of hospitality . I think there is financial assistance available too , to help with the transportation of horses . Over the years , I recall P. Hobbs , J. Edwards and N. Twiston - Davies , all sending multiple runners . I remember N.T.D. having a 5 timer one day . I also recall J. Edwards having 4 runners in a bumper , and it caused a bit of a fall out with the course . I'm pretty sure that G. Elliot will enjoy the help Perth provide , and I can't recall him having as many runners at other Scottish courses . Elliot also has occasional syndicate owned horses run at Perth , and by the number of connections in the parade ring , some will be fairly local to Perth . So I don't think we'll be going back to the days when overseas horses in handicaps automatically got lumbered with top weight .

Peter Bowen ' raids' Perth very effectively.

Fair point willie. I stand corrected said the man in the orthopaedic shoes. 5/7
Report kevo • August 19, 2018 1:17 PM BST
Irish trained runners help to boost betting turnover in the UK, which in turn boosts prize money.

Call it a philanthropic gesture.
Report Northofperth • August 19, 2018 1:42 PM BST
Facts , you are correct about Peter Bowen having been successful with his raiding parties . Other "raiders" include Tony Martin , Stuart Crawford from over the Irish Sea . And the occasional runner from the Pipe or Henderson stable .
