I went shopping this evening at one of the major supermarkets and decided to treat myself to a Kit-Kat, but when I pulled the selection from the shelf I was shocked at the emaciated condition of the product compared to when I had previously purchased it, it was a lot thinner and lighter than I remember but was still the same price.
I then moved along to the boxed chocolate selection and the Cadburys  dairy box was on a discounted offer, I thought I'm not going to get caught on this one again as this one is a masterpiece of deception in the size of the container compared to the size of the contents. We live in a world of brazen deception.

The modern world, some people worry about the quantity they are getting while some people worry if they are getting anything at all!! Wish the modern world would grow some bollocks and not buy from the big boys but I guess that's to easy.

So maybe we should.............

Will this news have any effect on the difference between Joan Collins and a Kit-Kat?

You still only get four fingers in a Kit-Kat, so no difference there.

What's that, DenzilPenberthy? Uncle Bens boil in the bag rice?

In terms of value for money, it's a pretty spectacular blunder. £3 for branded rice but only 80p for unbranded. Rice is not a food stuff that you should be paying a premium for imo. It's not even close. Also, the portion sizes are far too small, so you need to use 3 of the 8 sachets in 1 sitting - then you have to keep buying until you have a multiple of 3 sachets left over.

No the flavoured rice which are nice and are priced ok when on offer for a £1 but wouldn't pay usual price £1.90-£2.00,if buying plain rice would always get unbranded.

Where have you been? Shrinkflation has been around for a while now, and the latest addition is the Haagen-Daz's (500ml) ice-cream, now only 460ml. God knows what will happen post Brexit, double shrinkflation to account for the drop in value of Sterling?

If you hold your nerve on the price of £4 for Haagen-Daz Pralines and Caramel, the price soon drops to £2.50. Fill your boots.

Kevo is correct in this observation, also applies to Nescafe Azera coffee which oscillates between £3 and £5.50.

And if one is savvy one can still find Haagen-Dazs in 500ml (old stock) in some supermarkets; Green and Black remains 500ml and just as tasty, if not better, especially their organic dark chocolate flavour. But I think post a hard brexit prices and/or shrinkflation could rise on most products (again).

Last post is correct..

Currency an issue, obesity an issue.

Disposable income increasingly an issue.

One must purchase these items in bulk when the price is significantly reduced as BEP has been reached.

End of tax year, easter, bank holidays etc are opportunities..

Azera coffee for example i buy 10 at a time, half price only, a good annual saving.

Same for toiletries and such like...

Rice is a commodity on the increase pricewise for a reason and yes i buy the good stuff for a

reason but only brown for me at half price, buying perhaps 5 a time.

Buying job lots when what you're after is on offer definitely the way to go.

Easy with the coffee, not so easy with the ice cream unless you have a freezer the size of Mart's.

True.
I once bought over 100 tins of John West and Princes Tuna when it was on for £2 for 4 pack and did similar with Kenco when it was £2 for the 150g refill packs, both were on at local cheapy stores big savings overall.

Another absolute joke is the price of gluten free pasta compared to normal pasta. Supermarkets are so toxic I just buy the cheaper one and make myself ill purely out of spite.

By:

When: 09 Aug 18 12:34
It's not a fadCrazy

Might as well get this off my chest as well - the most triggering thing, not only in supermarkets but in life.....

People who misuse the kiosk; either buying lottery tickets or scratchcards, clearly having over 10 items or making small talk with the cashier. Sends me into a blind rage every time.
By:
DenzilPenberthy
When: 09 Aug 18 12:35
Gluten free is a fad imo. only a tiny % of the world's population suffer from it.

By:
Richie_Burnett
When: 09 Aug 18 12:42
No, isn't that weight related? I'm far from overweight but another unwanted side effect of pasta/bread is abdominal distension.
By:
DenzilPenberthy
When: 09 Aug 18 12:50
It's not really weight related as such but it fat related depending on how and where your fat is dispersed very outwardly thin people can be insulin resistant and fatties not.
I had similar to you before I stopped eating like a Westerner now I eat like a 3rd world peasant and have no issues with any floury starchy stuff.

It's a very recent thing for me. I was fine with bread and pasta in my 20s. I've gone the same way as the rest of my family now, allergic to everything. Got to be extra careful cos I'm the only one with anaphylaxis. So toxic when that flares up. I don't want to die looking like the elephant manLaugh
