How much rain at Ascot ?

Rain is forecasted from around 2pm onwards in that area, there's a good chance the ground will soften somewhat before the KG . It all depends if what's forecasted comes or not.

The overnight shower may not have done a great to the ground, but it probably will have taken the sting out of it.

I wouldn't be so sure.  Apparently they've been watering this morning and times yesterday said it was bordering good ground anyway.  As domino says there are showers forecast, ground could be anything.  If I owned a fast ground horse I'd be seething...

Lycett on Radio 5 live said they were watering, he even mentioned the reservoirs and the sprinklers...

They watered before and after racing yesterday, although they said ground was not riding fast at yesterday's meeting.

Then there was a shower overnight.

Haven't watered this morning as there is rain forecasted from 2pm onwards, it will not be firm ground.

So Lycett is making it up then?

He may have been referring to last night, but course have reported they didn't water this morning, whether thats to save face when the showers come and the ground rides like glue or dead, because they have indeed watered I don't know. But the course reports say it was last watered, yesterday evening.
