A horses injuries can fool a trainer.
In 1996 I was live on a forum to watch the running of the 1996 W S Cox plate and looked a 2 horse race between Saintly and
Fields of Omar.
They paraded in the mounting yard and I posted, without thinking, that Fields of Omar was lame on the inside hind leg.
Saintly will win, lay Fields of Omar and I hope no jockeys or horses get hurts.
Saintly wins and Fields of Omar breaks down. The crowd is a gasp!
On the Sunday David Hayes said that Fields of Omar is lame on the off front leg.
I told punters No.
He transferred his body weight from his injured inside hind leg diagonally onto
his off front leg, apply extra pressure and it is only has strained damaged.
On the Thursday further scans revealed that his off side front leg is only minor damaged but his inside hind
leg has a fracture and required 12 months rehab.
Lesson is when a horse has a nasty injury their brain will naturally transfer their weight diagonally to another leg to ease the pain.
Check the limping leg and the other diagonal leg also.
