A colt bought at Tattersalls' July Sale in Newmarket yesterday could become the first son of Frankel to run in a British point-to-point.

Brimstone, an unraced three-year-old bred by Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms, was knocked down for 20,000gns to Yorkshire-based point-to-point trainer Nicky Tinkler, who was at the Newmarket sale with his partner, Alex Duncan . Tinkler is no stranger to ring success with a horse bred for the Flat, for at Goffs UK's Spring Sale in May he traded Financier, a son of Dubawi from the family of stallions Desideratum and Medaaly, for £115,000 – he had bought the five-year-old for just £16,000 in January 2016, trained him to win a Witton Castle point-to-point on debut and then taken him back to market.
In common with Financier, Brimstone needs time said Tinkler, who added: "He's too big and backward to run on the Flat, but the plan is to run him in a two-and-a-half-mile maiden point next spring. If we have to wait another year that will be no problem.

"Nice store horses have become so dear, and I'd rather buy a horse by a Flat sire but with the size to make a jumper."

Brimstone was foaled by the winning mare Revered (Oasis Dream), whose dam, Arrive, was a full-sister to Hasili, one of racing's greatest broodmares. Hasili died in March, but became the first Northern Hemisphere mare to produce five Group or Grade One winners, in addition to the top-class racehorse and successful sire Dansili, who was a Group Two winner.

interesting Frankel stat that I have nicked here ....

I saw a statistic a month or so ago that 29 members of Frankel's first crop were still unraced.
These horses are now four-year-olds, so the likelihood for the majority is that if they haven't yet raced, they are not going to do so.[flat]

I can't blame them for not buying an NH store. Ridiculous how much they go for, particularly when you consider how poor the prize money levels are.
