I laid the winner because I didn't fancy it over 500m and it won a short head which is irrelevant really. The race ended been run over 305m in which I would never have laid it in a sprint. Surely all bets should be void on this race as it's false information. Think I am going to take it to the gambling commission. Anyone have any idea how i will get on?

Wasting your time mate but it is a regular occurrence sadly

Yikes! They've still got it as 500m in the results Shocked

It's absolutely scandalous. Win lose or draw I would never have laid the dog in a sprint. When I got on chat straight after race they said they had been alot of complaints and it would be rectified today. Now i received a email saying all bets stand it's an absolute joke. It's like advertising a 2m race and it ending up been a 5f sprint.

unacceptable I agree although alarm bells should have gone off tbh as the name of the race was "maiden sprint trophy"

sprints in greyhound racing are 2 bends (which at notts is either 255 or 305)

plus in 3 previous runs at notts, all 3 were sprint races

the information is not lining up there so really its up to you to investigate further

shouldn't be, but is

The dog had run over 450 or whatever more than sprints and every other dog raced over 500m and had very rarely had a sprint at all. Betfair just said it was 500m and racing post sporting life said 500m I don't and shouldn't have to look at the title of the race when the distance is showing. They have offered me a 20 pound freebet for the issue but no way am I taking that
Report wondersobright July 3, 2018 2:31 PM BST
yes peterborough which is a sharp 4 bend trip favouring dogs with early
and notts 305 is the longest sprint trip in the country
not uncommon for dogs to mix and match

its in the rules that only reserves not being correctly listed voids the market
so you have more chance of finding rocking horse sh1t than getting your money back imo but GL anyway

1 or 2 things along these lines have happened to me over the years, in particular a first goal scorer bet which I layed and there was a bit of confusion. Had I bet with the bookies my lay would have been successful, but BetFair paid out on a different result. I contested it (not very hard-not too big an amount) and lost. I have found its best to move on and not let the bitterness eat you up. If you are a successful punter you will get it back in the future. Just my own opinion. Good luck if you pursue it.
Report fullbloom July 3, 2018 3:15 PM BST
I would have fully expected the bet to be void if the dog had got beat. It's robbery simple as that in my eyes

Sadly unless SIS or the on track racecard published the wrong distance you don't stand a chance.

The Racing Post is an unofficial publication, Betfair takes it's information from the same information providers.

Only if the official outlet displays it wrong do you have a case.

It's like when a racecourse judge calls the wrong result, as they are the on course judge, a bookmaker would have to pay out on that error.

So unless the racetrack have published incorrect details and that is then advertised by their own media, you don't have a case.

Relying on second hand media outlets is your own choice and not the fault of the course.

did wetherby not publish incorrect details about the distance of their races, for years ..

When I spoke online via live chat the person's I spoke to both said that the traders were looking into it and it would be resettled today. Anyway I have contactedIBAS so I will see what happens.its disgraceful in my eyes
Report maleuk01. July 3, 2018 4:30 PM BST
When did you realise it was over 305m not 500m?

You said as soon as the race was over you contacted betfair.

So i guess you knew before the off.
Report wondersobright July 3, 2018 5:14 PM BST
305m races start in the back straight and 500m races start in the home straight
the race was on RPGTV so no excuse really for not trading out of the bet even IF you only just realised it was a 305m rather than a 500m race
by all means waste your time with IBAS but you are getting no money back from this
learn from it and move on

Relying on second hand media outlets is your own choice
I agree

I knew as the dogs was going in the traps and the broadcaster said watch out they have it down as 500m but they are at the 305m boxes.it was too late for me to do anything about it and win lose or draw I fully expected the bet to be void. The person on live chat said that they had already had alot of complaints and with the feedback they had been given then all bets would be resettled today
Report fullbloom July 3, 2018 5:19 PM BST
Yes they do wondersobright but the live tv didn't come on until they was going in the boxes. Was too late to do anything and end of day if sporting life racing post and betfair all say 500m race then that's what I fully the race to be over. What do you suggest I go to the track next time I want to lay something. In my eyes it's a joke
