There are more baldfart advertising hoardings than blades of grass at Newcastle racecourse nowadays.

On a different issue, on a straight AW course like Newcastle, why is the advertised distance of the mile races "One mile and 5 yards"? Surely on a straight course you cam move the stalls wherever you like to get the precise distance.
