Race 2 - 6:10pm
THE BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF NOVICE STAKES (CLASS 4) (PLUS 10 RACE)

An enquiry was held to consider why Richard Hannon was running MOTAFAAWIT (IRE) here at Leicester on going described as Good to Firm, having declared the colt a non-runner at Salisbury on 27 June 2018 on ground with the same official description. The representative of the trainer stated that they were happy to run MOTAFAAWIT (IRE) on Good to Firm ground in slightly cooler conditions at an evening meeting.

An enquiry was held to consider why Mark Johnston was running NAYEF ROAD (IRE) here at Leicester on going described as Good to Firm, having declared the colt a non-runner at Salisbury on 27 June 2018 on ground with the same official description. The representative of the trainer stated that they were happy to run NAYEF ROAD (IRE) on Good to Firm ground in slightly cooler conditions at an evening meeting and added that they felt it was in the colt’s best interest to travel the shorter distance to Leicester in the warm conditions rather than travel a further distance to Salisbury in similarly warm conditions.

So nothing at all to do with the Leicester race being re-offered when only two were declared - obviously a complete coincidence.

Nellie,

The hot weather and good to firm ground at Salisbury came as a complete surprise to the trainers after weeks of rain and the dreadful Arctic conditions at Royal Ascot.

Both trainers had other runners at Salisbury, presumably they had completed warm weather training.

A new outlet for withdrawing anything drawn high at Chester.............the trainer explained that his horse can only perform to his best in temperatures below 20 degrees celsius and its a well known fact that the wider you are drawn at Chester the higher the temperature gets
