The sport is completely and utterly unpoliced. A ride like that in most countries (not in Ireland obviously) would lead to a lengthy ban. It is laughable.

funny he goes down the outside on the well supported fav in a small field but on the horse that's been drifting he goes from being out wide to trying to go down the inner through a wall of horses. must just be a coincidence like it always is.

At least the horse he just won on wasn't laid at all rates last time out going off nearly three times the ISP on betfair.

i'm a believer that the stewards are not half as savvy as to what a non trier looks like, compared to most on here who are watching thousands of rides/races a year , for many years

I used to follow horses which I thought were completely bent rides for 3 races or until they won and unsurprisingly Mulrennan was a regular feature.
A good one in memory was Casper Lee given an extremely rank ride at Thirsk over 6f then 2 runs later hacks up over 7f at a good price,the first ride was a genuine classic from Mulrennan yet his career has blossomed since. https://www.racinguk.com/racecards/thirsk/79887-watch-racing-uk-on-sky-432-maiden-claiming-stakes?show_all=true&non-runner_display=false My school of thought was with these types in low grades they must be handbraking them for a future bet after all you don't need to stop a badly handicapped horse to get it beat. |

There is a culture enedmic within the sport of hooking horses. I think if anything it has become more prevalent in the Betfair era. When you've got prize money of 2-3k for winning a race it isn't particularly surprising.
