1/11 well the most inconsistent trainer bar none had a few winners lately and a 41 % strike rate with fave in these races i wonder which horse is going to turn up youd want evens for a johnstone one at least but if you had 250 horses surely you can win with a 1/10 certainty

Tyred- a race of this type is not for me, so I haven't looked at it-no bet. Plenty of other races today. As I said before, I never back or lay MJ's horses whatever the price.

those who back johnstones long term will go skint quickly im quite sure layers are happy to pay out because they know what the end game will be, well done the backers

Johnstone has nothing to do with backing an odds-on shot that has no opposition,
some odds-on shots are bad value, like ones in handicaps with a string of ones next to their names but in stakes races ...

The point that I am making is that with some trainers you have a chance of working out how their horses will perform, albeit a small one. With MJ-you just never know. Add J O'Neil to that as another lot whose horses I never back or lay!

his runners are as consistent and he is as good a trainer to follow for the punter with his placed runners lto on fast ground.
If you want to disagree feel free to post something tangible Slicer.

Stridingedge- I am NOT disagreeing with you. You have obviously done your homework. This is all about opinion and personal preference. Over the years I have evolved my own strategies and these include NOT backing or laying certain stables runners. MJs and J O'Ns are but 2. Whatever works for you is what I say. So good luck!

It's the whole inconsistency thing which for me is a lazy argument on here as if there are scores of trainers who's horses run the same race to race and these trainers are easy to profit from.
I'm sure plenty have made hay so far from this yard with all the fast ground, the horses have run pretty consistently as horses placed in the first 3 lto have an a/e of 1.44 and a profit to sp of 25% this season for the backer.

be interested what this is like race time (6.6 currently). The stablemate looks the more likely of the two for me because its unexposed at the distance and looked to stay a bit further well lto ridden patiently.
Not a race I'm playing though.

I lay quite a few of his runners mostly on soft ground and away from goodwood ascot and newmarket ,I even back the odd one but very rarely and never with fanning on.
