Well worth remembering that stat...thanks for posting it

Betting masta,

WD, although i doubt it's a reliable system. It's probably one of those random stats that look good but if followed in future may not be financially rewarding.

The draw at Pontefract, although slightly favouring low numbers is not significant at all.

If you look at the 4 meetings this year prior to today, in 27 races stall 1 only produced 2 winners.

Good luck.

Andrew,

That is as maybe - the simple fact is that stall 1 has given more profit than any other stall at Pontefract since 2014 and is the only one showing a positive A/E or value index

It may just be down to chance but horse racing is more and more becoming a chance game rather than a skill game IMO

You have to admit being in stall 1 should help as if you get a good start you are on the rail in the best part of the track for the entire race

It's like being drawn stall 1 in athletics. you have to cover less of the track so that's an advantage in itself - obviously it's not going to make you a millionaire but it continues to be a positive angle at courses such as Pontefract

How else are you going to explain Posh perfect winning today

Betting masta,

I understand your logic with respect to the inside, but it would also depend on the pace and how the horse runs.

If it was Chester or Beverley, stall 1 is a big positive.

Posh Perfect won over 6f, that at Pontefract starts on a straight and is over 3f before a slight LH bend. She made all today and was simply the better filly, although the runner up gave her a race. In her two previous races she was ridden from off the pace that she obviously didn't like.

The 2 up front drew away, the draw didn't make any impact.

Good luck.

Sure there was a thread on here - a couple of months ago - saying something like ...

'STALL 1 over A Mile and a Quarter at PONTEFRACT - NOT had a WINNER' since LESTER PIGGOTT was riding.

Stall 3 is where it's at at Ponty if you want to believe that sort of logic. Cry

Stall 1 at Ponty has not given a profit over the last 5 year period at all from what I'm looking at.

You might be looking at actual stall one and not de-facto stall one (eg stall two when stall one is withdrawn)

I have a profit at betfair SP from flatstats - they use defacto stall one and have 451 runners

as is so often the case one skewed year makes a profit over all, certainly nothing statistically significant here.

I may be imagining it but they very seldom come from behind at Ponte Carlo, ability to go a good early pace seems more important than the draw imvho.
