I thought Novice stakes races were for horses that had never won in the same season? (If so why did Red Starlight run in 4.00 Newmarket yesterday?

A maiden is for horses that have not won a race
A maiden auction race is restricted to horses which have been bought at public auction sales, not sold privately. |

There are 2 novice stakes races at Pontefract today.
The 2.00 is for 2 year old fillies The 2.30 is for 3 year olds but restricted to colts, fillies and geldings that have not run in more than 4 races. |

Median refers to the price of yearlings by the sire sold at public auction. So no Galileos or Dubawis.
