I have to disagree, have you read his 2 year old form ?
2nd to Zabriskie beaten a head. The winner has only run in Group races since (4) and finished 3rd in the Dante. The 3rd has won since and finished 5th in a Group 3, 2L behind Hazapour who finished 5th in the Epsom Derby.
2nd to Imaging who has won twice since, including a listed race, and a 2nd to Gustav Klint in a listed race with US Navy Flag 13.25L behind.
Thought good enough to run in the Irish 2000 guineas.
It was running in a maiden race tonight off a mark of 84

I have to disagree, have you read his 2 year old form ?

Is a LOT DIFFERENT to finishing LAST in the Irish 2000 Guineas - beaten 68 lengths - where it ran TO a rating of MINUS 16
If you wish to back a horse because somebody else, "THOUGHT (it was) good enough to run in the Irish 2000 Guineas"... Then good luck to you -- I, however, will desist.
The two 2-year-old races, you highlight, were run on Soft/Heavy and Heavy ground - so you cannot take those results as being 'set in STONE' .... Every Pun intended.

I've been around long enough to not back a horse on the sole basis it was thought good enough to run in the Irish 2000 guineas. It was 50/1 after all and his first run as a 3 year old. He was always struggling and eased considerably finishing tailed off. It's plainly obvious it wasn't his true form, so your -16 rating can't be taken literally and i suspect you know it. I'm sure i could easily find other examples of horses running way down the field in a group race, only to win next time out. To use this as a retort was a little OTT considering i had already explained his 2 year old form was good, specially in the context of a 3 year old maiden.
I'm fully aware the runs were on heavy ground, but as the sire (Frankel) - dam (Peerless) and dam sire (Pivotal) all liked good/firm, last nights ground was going to be ideal.
I stated on my lay thread ... One of them is the AOB trained Spanish Point who has some 2 year old form that reads well in the context of this race. Forget his run LTO it was in the Irish 2000 Guineas. He could win, but my idea of the winner is the once raced fully Hasimiyya trained by Dermot Weld
The horse probably drifted from it's tissue price due to support for Dawn Trouper, Rockabil and Hasimiyya. On top of that it was ridden by an AOB work rider that has won 2 races in 5 years. I didn't back it simply because i had layed the favourite (posted on here) and had a small EW on Hasimiyya at much better odds than SP because i thought she would improve and ran better than her placing indicated.
In my opinion, to state you couldn't back the horse due to lack of encouraging form is strangely odd, it actually had the best form in the race, and based on last night will win again in better company.
RP comment Soon pressed leader in 2nd and led after 2f, ridden under 2f out, kept on strongly final furlong, going away at finish (op 4/1)

Correct he was draw 12, but the stalls are situated from the nearside rail, so he was on the outside. Additionally Leopardstown is not a tight track, but a wide galloping course with a long back straight. He was always prominent, went to the lead at the 2f marker and always travelling well. Simply the best horse on the night and in hindsight was a good price, but we all know about hindsight

Spanish Point was very much fancied yesterday. I punted it quite big at 5/2 without best odds, so was very sick to see the SP !! His form of a 90 horse was in the book and he had been leading Full Moon and Gustav Klimt at home, and that was a weak contest last night. God knows why it drifted but it wasn't a case of it being unfancied. One of those where you feel sick you don't get best odds though !
