I retired as a Racecourse Bookmaker following the 2014 Epsom Derby after making my debut at the 1980 Grand National, although I still work on the racecourse!

You better park your car where I tell you to!

Have a look at these then. A lovely trip down memory lane for those of us a bit too far past 21 than we would like to be.
Anybody recognise or know any of the bookmakers ?

bookmakers at stockton . a very young looking cliff bailey who lived to a ripe old age , george daykin who worked in a bakery producing the very best custard tarts during the night and bookmaking by day , laurie dolan from york who retired when he could sell his pitches , and tom webster , the sons continue to work his pitches

I'm sure that was his name and from memory he was around the East End... I did his company tax return in the 1970s

ribero1 , george daykin was a cheap ring only bookmaker. his final day was at york in the middle , would be about 1975 or 76 , he had a minor car accident on his way home and failed a police breath test.
never went racing again. his tic tac was jackie gee from doncaster
