Havlin has ridden 2 winning favourites at Newmarket today with Dettori riding for other yards; does Frankie no longer have the pick when he is free to do so?
I don't think it's that though because Dettori rode in both races where Havlin had the winners and one was for 2YOs.
In the 2YO race Dettori's mount was trained by Simon Crisford and there's a previous association there but the Havlin horse was favourite and owned by Khaled Abdullah, so seems odds that he would get off a favourite by Kingman and from riding the likes of Enable, you wouldn't have thought there was an issue with the owner.
The other Havlin winner yesterday for Gosden was Godolphin owned so maybe there was an owner issue there but then Dettori won for Gosden later on the card for another owner again.

Seeing as Gosden confirmed after the race that he didn't want to risk FD just before RA after what happened last year, that is most likely to be the reason he didn't ride Calyx.

Surely no one thinks that Rab Havlin would be above Frankie in the pecking order? I would imagine that JG very much appreciates Rabs input to the stable-particularly as he supposedly rides a lot of the real good ones at home in their work.
He is probably very much a good team player, and is a perfectly adequate back up to Frankie when required, especially when needed at the less glamorous venues. Days like yesterday (where he's been able to get on a couple of good ones) are probably a reward for the hard work he puts in, whist JG protects Frankie for Royal Ascot.
Maybe Frankie hasn't got many left you see.

I suspect that Havlin is riding the ones that he rides out a lot at home and are perhaps a bit tricky. Calyx looked very green although the other one looked pretty straightforward. No question that Frankie will ride the best ones.

Calyx is one of the best ones, at least based on what we saw yesterday. He'll have gone into more than a few trackers.
