Splendid ride from Javier....timed it perfectly and the others had no chance once C2M hit the front.
He’s won all the top dirt races but I’m sure he got a kick of riding for the Queen. |

At least that was one Haggas favourite that won.
Helped that the second favourite, Funny Kid, ran an absolute shocker. Had seemingly been winning his races with a gear change but looked totally outpaced in this. Strange. |

Rather a facile win and never challenged after he passed the early leader. He will not get it as easy in the Ascot Gold cup as his Betfair price of 55.0 indicates.
John Warren looked delighted with his decision to take it over there. His other entry is in the 1m 6F Curragh Cup looks a much better option. I also did a Forecast with Funny Kid that was never going to materialise....that's Wolverhampton form for you :-) |

Yes I thought Castellano rode it very well. American jockeys,or at least the New York ones, are top-class up to about 9f but over longer distances they are so inexperienced, judgement of pace can be a real problem for them. Most of those riding last night will probably not tackle 2 miles again this year.

I backed the 2nd who was not given the best of rides but wouldn't have beaten the winner.

Put them on the best horse in the race and their judgement of pace improves no end.
Along with the rest of the stuff that make a good ride. |
