It depends what you want - a 10/1 the field race where it is very easy to waste your money or a race where you might see potential Group winners. In my opinion the race with Al Muffrih is by far the most interesting race tomorrow. If you really want to watch very ordinary horses you are spoilt for choice. Conceding a penalty should make the novice races more competitive than an ordinary maiden.

The rationale behind the 2yo novices was to give winning horses opportunities until the nurseries starts, which although debatable was a reasonable proposition. But these 3yo and 3yo+ novices can't possibly have the same reasoning. There are plenty of handicaps for winning or experienced 3yo+ horses. One of the runners in a 3yo+ was a near top class 6yo hurdler!

They should be more competitive than the old maidens. Problem is if you have a horse rated 104 carrying a penalty in one, you had better have a good horse on your hands if you are going to risk finishing close to it.

We all have types of races we prefer. Generally i find handicaps much less attractive than non handicaps, regardless of whether the non handicaps are group races, novice races, maidens or even claimers.

I don't disagree with that. The problem here is that horses that should be in high end handicaps or conditions stakes are just having a paid course work out like the fav in the next at Carlisle.
