The much heralded interview with Luck a complete waste of time. Told you nothing you didn't already know. The fly that seemed attracted to him was more interesting.

I'm dreading next week with Rhododendron and Clemmie, just to name two. Bring back National Hunt...at least "top jocks" do not lose races as regularly as Moore does on big races these days.

O'Brien has never won the French Oaks and hasn't won the French 1000gs since 2001 either, don't think you can blame Moore for those stats. Probable that he keeps his best fillies for the Home races!

Moore could have ridden a better race nevertheless, Happily had the chance when the gap opened (finally), but I do not think she'd have won anyway as she seemed to have run out of puff hear the end. But she's had a hard race, and possibly the 10.5f was a furlong too far, in my opinion.

If McDonald had been caught on the post no doubt he would have been slated on here but the horse was the best in the race so it won.

Happily was fancied to win as she was backed into 4/1 and less just before the off. But, McDonald and connections deserved the win.

After another losing favourite in the Irish Derby - the fifth of the season (that can't be far off a record) - can he finally get things right on yet another favourite in the Irish Oaks?

Stables don`t get 28 Group 1 winners every year.

A mediocre season so far for AOB, an even more mediocre one for Moore.

21% strike rate this season, only bettered by Frankie 22%.

Another disaster. Forget the 21% he is now 100% in Classics with six losing favourites.

So long as it makes you happy differentdrum.

I have to admit to have been no fan of ryan's ride in the derby, but i was wrong. It looks clear that saxon warrior is a miler.
The thing with ryan is this.
He doesnt do pacemakers.
Aiden would usually hose up at the curragh with his best one out of the english classics. Joseph would sit on the tail of one his stablemates and use that northern dancer stamina of his mount to out stay any rivals to the line.
These would nearly always be punted off the boards by mr Tabor and mr Smith who knew a good thing when they saw it.
That rarely happens anymore.
I do remember last year at the july meet i think when gustav klimt won, an interview with rishi p. Mr tabor admitted he backed it because ryan told him he was going to ride it prominently.
Must have been the exception that proves the rule.

What i will say is this.
What Ryan does offer is an almost supernatural ability to win certain races.
I do not think any other jock on the planet would have won the arc on Found, the cox plate on adelaide was it? the breeders cup turf on magician.
Even last week he won the july cup on USNVyFlag before jetting off to paris to win the grand prix on kew gardens.
I think aiden and the lads will put up with getting chinned in the irish classics when the upside of ryan is this good.
And i will give you this.
At some point ryan will win either a kentucky derby or a breeders cup classic on a ballydoyle horse. And that will be one of the greatest stories in the long history of the sport. Mark my words.

Are the " lads " now using RM in a way which they can deliberately manufacture a false market in a high liquidity event ????

Think about it.... Although the breeding stakes are extremely high they know that in the majority of cases they have more than one bullet to fire and if RM is causing an artificially short price on one of those hitting the bullseye whats to stop them putting him up on the wrong one ???

Never forget that, deep down and as wealthy as some of them are, the thrill of the big gamble never goes away and make no mistake they are more than capable of pulling these off.

When you have the quality of horses that they have where you can use a group 1 2 or 3 horse as a pace maker and others as baton carriers it is no mystery how they manage to win so many key races and rest assured some of these will be staged managed to fund the deep rooted addiction.

A correct one Dyno, looked at yesterdays race for instance, a Group winner as pacemaker, what other stable could do this I ask. When the filly is retired to stud it makes no difference to her stud value as the lads will send her to one of their own. Ryan is TOLD what to ride imo...

It doesn't make me happy at all, although the only one I backed was Saxon Warrior. Just trying to strike a balance. You won't these facts  highlighted in the media. Of course not. Just Ryan Moore what a great jockey blah blah blah....... As I said above these might easily be the worst Classic results by any rider in the history of the sport. That is quite a negative achievement for anyone, let alone someone who is supposedly the leading rider.

'thelatarps', I wish I have the same confidence as you for Moore, but I do not for various reasons the most significant of all is his winning fav rides, and value.

The race you were referring to at the July meet was the Falmouth Stakes where Roly Poly was ridden from the front against a belated season debut outing for Wuheida (injured), and it was a very weak Falmouth Stakes. Roly Poly was no world beater; beaten by Brave Anna, Winter and Hydrangea in the absence of Promise To Be True (injured), Minding, Ballydoyle and Alice Springs, the fillies stalwarts at Ballydoyle.

Found did not win the 1000G; defeated by Almansor, Seventh Heaven, Postponed and many others. But did win a very mediocre Arc at Chantilly (not Longchamp) beating Highland Reel and Order Of St George on her ideal ground (good/good to soft) after her stablemates made the race for her. It was a mediocre Arc; Postponed did not run his race there as his subsequent races showed, and was retired soon after; Found was comprehensively beaten in America by Highland Reel. I'd not put the win by Found solely down to Moore.

As for the July Cup - a very weak renewal - US Navy Flag was gifted a soft lead given he'd been running over much further; Blue Point the fav was unduly lit-up by Intelligence Cross (I believe), and Harry Angel was absent. Brando the eventual 2nd was comprehensively beaten by Harry Angel, and those behind were mostly non-entities.

As for yesterday's Irish Oaks clearly there was something amiss with Magic Wand - she could not even go past Bye Bye Baby. And Donnacha nearly stole it on the eve of his birthday.
