E.W. bet Sirjack Thomas  9-1 use BOG.

I know it’s the wrong side of summer to be backing 3yrolds, however at 9-1 I just can’t get off the chances of Sirjack Thomas in the 2.40 Listowel. It’s debateable whether he needs plenty of cut in the ground to show his best, but Qatar Racing have purchased the gelded son of Fast Company and Johnny Murtagh now trains.

Having pulled miles clear with the now 94 rated Himmah to win his maiden on heavy last season  he was pitched into a very hot G3 on decent ground, was it the surface or company that found him out is anyone’s guess, but the G1 form that has subsequently transpired from that race is very solid indeed. His last race for Madeleine Tylicki was another super run when being worn down very late in the play in a median auction stakes by Guessthebill when trying to concede 5lbs, that horse going on to improve to finish runner up in a hot handicap and then finishing in and around some nice types in a G3 on his final start.

Today he makes his stable debut back in trip at 6f in a 60-90 affair, with Denis Linehan also claiming a further handy 5lb on top of his 8lb 3yrol allowance, almost a healthy stone concession for a horse that still appears to have plenty of potential in a field where plenty lack it. There could be plenty of improvement to come, but  I’m fairly  sure the subsequent form from his last 2 races lends hope that his current mark of 86 may be quite generous in terms of this race, never the less he’s now with a very capable trainer who is getting his share of winners recently.

"with the now 94 rated Himmah"

Himmah currently rated 76, robster.

Robster has got slightly mixed up, it's Guessthebill that is currently rated 98, also interesting that he went to Murtaghs after being a close 2nd to that stables horse!
Very difficult to assess 3yo and older horses form now but occasionally you do get some really thrown in early on. Only thing i can say is that his sire Fast Companys progeny do appear to run a lot better on very soft/heavy ground as this horse has done so far. Good luck Robster nice to see you posting, always interesting.

Regards the 94 rating, was looking at her rating stateside. Apologies for misleading I'm not entirely certain how it equates back to the European handicap format, but she does only look a 80 horse at best. As you say Stewarts Guessthebill now a 98 animal, which could give an indication that sprinting off 86 may be lenient enough today with the lads additional 5lbs, but agree it's a major guess as to whether he's trained on and what he will produce as a 3yrold. I live in hope Laugh

I agree stewarts, horse wasn't letting itself down on the ground, despite running on quite nicely it was obvious Denis Linehan was looking after him as they came up the straight. Interesting to see if they go back up to 7F or a mile NTO , hopefully when the muds flying.

Just watched the replay, changed it's legs turning for home and in the straight, definitely needs to step up in trip Nto.
