In over 40 years of going racing I have never known a test run for a void race to take place,today around 1230 a test run took place for the racecourse to see how they could handle a situation where horses and jockeys caused the potential of a race needing to be declared void ,amazing that around 5 hours later that very thing happened.

test didn't work then as some jumped the hurdle despite yellow flags
They even had a commentary on the test race it was very realistic,not seen the replay yet delta but it sounds like the jockeys at fault.
just seen replay nobody at fault however the future of 16 runner races must be in doubt at cartmel.
Not sure why they tried to by-pass the jump. Couldn't see but think the fallen horse was well away from the obstacle. My Hit And Run seemed to be going well at the time! 
Derek Fox was the problem. The horse did get up. Perhaps he had already done likewise.
Explaining the decision, Morshead said: "We had a very nasty fall and the jockey [Derek Fox] lay completely still on the bypass ground and in addition it looked like the horse had a swinging leg but fortunately he just had his legs through the rein.
"An assessment of the situation was taken by one of the vets, who said in his opinion there wasn't room to get past and at that point we instituted the halt-race procedures. In my 18 years clerking, this is the first time I've had to issue the stop-race procedure."
