ADGE,LETS BE CLEAR ABOUT THE PONTY SITUATION,THE ONLY "INVESTMENTS" YOU HAVE PROTECTED ARE THE BEST PITCHES ON THE TRACK(RAILS) AND YOUR OWN,BOTH NEGOTIATORS MASSIVELY BENEFIT FROM THE NEW SET UP (SHOCK) ALL THIS DONE WITH NO CONSULTATION OF PITCH HOLDERS OR MEMBERS OF THE BRBA.WHAT YOU HAVE DONE BEGGARS BELIEF,YOUR GOOD SELF PUTTING YOUR OWN PONTY TATTS PITCH FOR SALE WITH NO RESERVE OBVIOUSLY KNOWING WHAT WAS IN STORE FOR THE TATTS RING,THE OTHER BRBA NEGOTIATOR NOW GOING AROUND TELLING PEOPLE HE HAS BEEN "OFFERED 10K" FOR HIS BUTTS PICK,PLEASE ALAN DONT TRY TO MAKE OUT YOUR LOOKING AFTER THE INTEREST OF ALL ONCOURSE BOOKMAKERS WHEN NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH,ALL BOOKMAKER ASSOCIATIONS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE,FACT!

i'll say nothing about your wrong asumptions regarding selling my own tatts pitch last summer for a small amount , although it is totally a disgusting thought. my pitch was 17 so guaranteed front line...with front line pitches now to be reduced by four it is still guaranteed front line with a shorter line so has lost nothing in value.
i was first informed of these plans in late novenber [ i was in mexico at the time ] and i've been working on this in confidence with the racecourse management ever since as they insisted it should be until architects produced the plans.
the members area is to be extended due to overcrowding and safety limits imposed. with a bigger gate more members may well enter tatts to place bets
the butts was never involved in any consutation at all..

"WORKING ON THIS IN CONFIDENCE" Laugh YOU COULDNT MAKE THIS UP,THE ONLY "DISGUSTING THOUGHTS" WERE THAT OF THE NEGOTIATORS INVOLVED,HARD FACED DOESNT EVEN COME CLOSE!

the enclosure that i bet in is not involved in the course ring changes , maybe you should make an offer , two or three will be available for the right money.

yes , read that composition. BH suggests that some would lose their pitches and others be considerably devalued.
because the members area is to eat into tatts by 40 yards approx it is clear that rails positions will increase in value so the obvious conclusion may be that tatts will lose a little value, but with a shortened front line not guaranteed.
at the same time if the silver ring bookmakers did lose their pitches , as some tatts bookmakers suggest to me they should some of them would lose medium to fairly large amounts to them. the fact that they are retaining their positions as a lower tatts area [ similiar to newbury or beverley ] means they may not lose much value either.
please consult your contract which explains such situations

THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE PROPOSAL TO PONTEFRACT RACECOURSE FROM THE BRBA= FIRST OF ALL LETS LOOK AT THE FACTS,THERE ARE 30 PITCHES IN THE SILVER RING (PICKS 9-11 SOLD FOR 5K IN THE LAST 2 YEARS MAKING PICK ONE AROUND A FIVE FIGURE SUM),THERE ARE 9 PITCHES IN THE BUTTS AREA OF WHICH 2 ARE OWNED BY THE BRBA NEGOTIATORS.THE FAIREST AND CORRECT WAY TO DEAL WITH THIS SITUATION WOULD HAVE BEEN TO REMOVE THE BUTTS FENCE AND HAVE THE 30 SILVER RING BOOKMAKERS SERVICING THE SILVER RING AND BUTTS AREA,AND PLACING THE 9 BUTTS BOOKS INTO LOWER TATTS,WHICH WOULDNT HAVE HAD THE SAME IMPACT ON THE ALREADY USELESS TATTS RING.                                                                                                                 WHAT THE SELF INTERESTED BRBA DIRECTORS HAVE DONE (WITH NO CONSULTATION WITH MEMBERS OR PITCH HOLDERS) IS IN EFFECT INCREASE TATTS FROM 46 TO 76 WHICH I WOULD IMAGINE WILL BE USELESS FOR THE VAST MAJORITY,CERTAINLY FOR LOWER TATTS BOOKS,AND REDUCE THE SILVER RING BUTTS AREA FROM 39 TO 9 OF WHICH BOTH NEGOTIATORS ARE IN THE 9.AS I SAID IN AN EARLIER POST YOU HAVE SURPASSED YOURSELVES,BOOKMAKER ASSOCIATIONS ARE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HIDE BEHIND CONFIDENTIALITY CLAUSES,YET ANOTHER CASE OF BLATANT SELF INTEREST!

there will always be winners and losers fact , i just never seems to go your way , unfortunately.
the butts has been so good of late that just ONE bookmaker has attended each of the last two meetings..agreed there just may be two next year. [ put your hand in your pocket the extra one could be you ]

Adge...'there are always winners and losers'...yep, funny how association directors never seem to be on the 'losing 'side !!

'the Butts is so poor only one bookmaker has attended the last two meetings'.....if that truly is the case surely it would make more sense for the track to close the Butts and keep the silver ring in place...a ring that occasionally attracts double figure book numbers midweek !!!!!

'I've been working on this in CONFIDENCE with the racecourse management'....clearly confidentiality isn't just a theory after all !!!!
By:

When: 21 May 18 15:38
mugbookie ,
the attendance on each of the last two meetings has been between 25 and 30 [ facilities are mostly a burger and ice cream van. on the three sundays there are a limit of 500 cars allowed in , the gates are normally closed more than an hour before racing [ depends on weather ]
the silver ring midweek for the last two meeting have been 6 and 7 and close to useless business. there is a smart bar [ which next year will be tatts ]. the racecourse tell me that this ring has shown a financial loss for each of the last three years...i wonder , would you continue to run your business that way.
i'm not part of pontefract management , if i was i would have closed the silver ring at least five years ago.
we have been privy to advanced planning for 6 months agreed , but if we released this partial information before the racecourse wished we would lose everything we have worked hard at , not just with pontefract but all other courses too.
when the plans became final it was announced in less than a week through AGT

further , if your first statement means something maybe you should become a director and reap these benefits and give your time for free [ we are not salaried like the FRB]. we put a lot of time and effort into achieving the best for all with little thanks for it ...but i , personally , would never want it any other way.

Adge....What you state may well be the case.....but lets cut to the chase....this is all about the Sundays !!!....the Silver ring is generally more than workable for the sixteen pitches on the front, indeed, occasionally two or three books actually bet on the second line !!!!

As you well know, the value in the Butts is also all about the Sundays....if these proposals go ahead, at the very least 25 pitches that ARE currently more than workable on Sundays in minor rings will be reduced to just nine....that cannot be right !!!!!

I suspect that come the first sunny Sunday meeting under these new arrangements, lower Tatts books will be looking on enviously as the punters queue up to bet in the positions they used to occupy in the old silver ring, whilst wondering how they're going to make up the much increased expenses !!!!

Regarding the changes.....as RLYL rightly alludes, ALL pitch transfers should have been suspended......I, and many other pitch holders are NOT members of the BRBA, ALL bookmakers now have INDIVIDUAL contracts with the racecourses, future developments at other racecourses should be out in the public domain at the earliest opportunity, association directors who have no mandate from all stakeholders should not be party to priveleged information....especially where there is a significant conflict of interest.Hopefully all tracks will follow jcrs lead and set up bookmaker liaison committees made up of bookmakers from all rings to negate such future conflicts.

It's true to say that many racecourses....never mind silver rings.... will have closed over the last few years if the only income they receive was gate and catering money...that is not the case.....sadly, many racecourses have simply given up on attempting to attract racegoers to midweek meetings...media rights money has enabled racecourses to concentrate on the highly profitable weekend booze fest....and they do !!!!....so no surprise to me Adge that the silver ring is running at a loss.....racing NEEDS people to come racing for the actual racing to thrive ....inexpensive minor rings have a significant role to play in this.....something that many racecourses appear to have lost sight of....which is a shame !

mugbookie ,
i think you are being too negative as to how the lower tatts [ which are still the same pitches ]will be on sundays when the area around you will still be full of people . the brand new bar is closest to you and the new catering village is of direct access through the tunnel plus the bar that is now on the stand still remains.
i sent an e-mail to the pontefract management at new year suggesting that pitch transfers and sales should be frozen at that time but they were reluctant to make the reason public as the architect and other bodies at that time were still working towards firm plans as the renovation and costing.
mark ryan [ AGT] will be monitoring the butts attendances and after 12 months there is to be a revue i understand. no money is allocated for any work in the butts other than a little grass seed.
lets all wish for three sunny sundays

In the interests of balance I would just like to point out that Nick Daisley is a BRBA board director and is a Ponty silver ring pitch holder.

I very much doubt the board was consulted with this consultation...
By:
mugbookie
When: 21 May 18 21:16
Fact...My pitch was nearly worthless anyway....but you're right it's definitely worthless now....i'm highly unlikely to pay Tatts exes to bet on the second/third line of lower tatts.

Adge/Wasnot...looking at the agt website, the maximum number to bet in tatts last year was 31....if the 16 who bet on the silver ring front line all turn up to bet in lower tatts, the track must increase the crowd in tatts by at least 33% in order for the tatts picks to stand still !!!!...I suggest that is a highly unlikely scenario for two reasons.....the track are expanding members to sell more badges to racegoers who currently frequent tatts....and the racegoers who currently frequent the silver ring do so because they simply don't want to or can't afford to pay tatts prices !!!!!
