I was lucky enough to back the winner or the 3.55 Thirsk with two firms last night.
I had £25 e/w at 14/1 with 365. Settled at 1/4 odds and no R4.
I had £35.50 e/w at 14/1 with pp. Settled at 1/5 odds with 20p R4.
I know 365 do not apply any 5p rule 4 and the two horses withdrawn were 10/1 and 12/1 with then. I cannot see how pp have applied a 20p R4 and also apply 1/5 odds. Incredible two firms can settle so differently. Been on phone to paddys but the call centre dont seem to understand rule 4s.
Can anyone understand the settlement?

After having a second look at your bet, I can see that it has been settled correctly. Piccolo had odds of 9/1 which carry a 20% Rule 4 Deduction.

Perhaps it was Miguel's more intelligent cousin from Barcelona, Manuel, who actually wrote the email.
That was one of those races where PP pay 4 places rather than 3, but pay out 1/5 the odds rather than 1/4, and they call this a special offer.
The main point though is that it shows the depressingly sad standard of staff that these firms have these days. To think that 9/1 equates to a 20p rule 4 shows a complete ignorance of one of the first things that customer service staff would and should have learned. Sadly, you could go round many firms like them and find similar useless, clueless staff.

If Andy Hornby the disgraced CEO of Hbos who bankrupted the bank could be employed at 'ok koral/Ladcrookes' (not in the City) it just shows shows the sad but true state of the Betting and Gaming Industry and its personnel. A top to bottom broom sweep to weed out the incompetence and charlatans of the industry is necessary and long overdue, in my opinion.
