Dave's fine, currently having a nice jolly fly-fishing on the Tay while wandering back on course for the occasional ring report.

It was a bit of a sickener of a bet that's for sure - I'm sure the Townsend case recently rang bells in some people's memory for the Davies case. But to have it at the end a big winning acca would certainly take the ultimate pee.

One question though, Betfair was firing away quite well in 2009 - surely he laid some of that 360k off...?

"It was six years ago and it still hurts," he says. "I still think about it once a week or so. It could have paid off the mortgage and I'd have been in a totally different" I can't really back at and situation. I'll never forget that moment and look it laugh. It's not the kind I go into a pub and of thing can say you'll never guess what happened to me.

"It but seems weird, although the money is definitely part of it, what hurts most is that we got it so right for such a small stake and still didn't cop it. That was the real sickener.

The Racing Post could do with some proofreaders. My brain just exploded trying to read that

Listening to him gas away when he was an actual analyst on RUK (rather than being relegated to spluttering out the betting), one finds it impossible to imagine how he ever made it pay. He's absolutely clueless.

That was kind of what I was thinking Geoff, or if less greedy then lay at a bigger price for a fair chunk - I would have thought he probably did for some at least.

Think Dave was a "Fax" man, wasn't it supposed to be the holy grail for a while in the early 2000's? I heard Channing who seems to be the new pin up boy for RUK at the moment say he had a lot of success with it and it got him going.

I don't think so.

You don't see me standing in the betting ring looking like a pirk calling out the prices.

that is true, we don't see you thankfully, you just use this forum to post thread after thread upon us looking and hoping for some adulation and a boost to a wildly oversized ego,

Do you think Dave would be standing in the ring telling you what has been backed and what has not and traveling up to Scotland and back.

Dave would be looking down his nose at all around and thinking to himself what a great punter I am.

But in saying that you do get to hear his thoughts for nothing but then again they are worth nothing.
