Philip Hammond would like it to be as high as possible, some £2/£5 max !

I believe the other party's will get it reduced to a nominal figure, Labour, Scots Nats, Plaid Cymru and of course the DUP will see it is nominal !
Pause Switch to Standard View Cabinet are split on ''FOBT'' max...

Report the dealer April 21, 2018 8:44 PM BST
originally i thought £50 but now think its well odds on to be £30 a spin.

i doubt the would get away with anything higher,in the present climate

halcyon, why would be concerned?
Is it our social conscience?

Yeah 2/3 certain posters you've got no chance.

I'll add to the debate I think that its a no brainer to make it 2-20 pounds, if you get a serious kick from spinning more use an online casino?

The argument "its keeping many bookies open" does not cut it with me, if they have to close because of this, so be it.

If everyone rather than the few of us get restricted to here so be it.

Report chavman April 21, 2018 10:26 PM BST
the problem being youve got is that the fobt stream of income is a gaming industry and as such should be differentiated from bookmaking.

in short tax the fcuk out of fobt profits.

People feed notes to these things like they are going out of fashion, well in Newcastle they do anyway when i venture in to lump a Placepot on.

They are programmed so the punter cant win in the long run?

Maybe i'm on my high horse but i would be deeply ashamed to work for any high street organisation with these FOBT's present. The reason is two fold:

1) Your company actively encourages use of these rancid machines. (I dont know which company it is but they all do it.)
2 (and more important) Your company will shy away from taking a bet and hide behind these.

I am not stupid enough to play these machines, but look at what section of society they are affecting?

I think the frontline staff need to do it in order to pay bills, but the top brass eg Andy Hornby do it because it is a sure fire guarantee to generate a mega profit annually for the company thus ensuring job security, and a hefty profit based bonus - easy money. There is absolutely not an ounce of conscience from any of the top brass of betting entities relying mainly/solely on fobt for profit and bonus.
