Although I have an account that is restricted, I can usually get a "recreational" bet on the more decent races. So I went on last night to see what I could have on a 33/1 shot (they are paying 6 places). I tried £25 ew and a message came up with the maximum allowed of £15.20. I tried the £15 only to have a "your bets have not been placed, please try again". Anyway tried and tried, with no luck at all. Tried lowering stake and still no. Went on live chat to be told I have a restricted account etc etc. I explained I knew that but it wouldn't let me have anything on even though the maximum still showed an allowed stake.
Then I had the pleasure of being told:
Tue, Apr 3, 22:0:9 ****: The amount showing here is £0.10 for horse racing and grey hound racing and that is the only reason why you wont be able to place the bets for higher amount
Tue, Apr 3, 22:1:9 You: 10p - some sort of joke isn't it!! What is the point of that?
Tue, Apr 3, 22:2:35 ****: Its a decision taken and we wont have any information about that
Tue, Apr 3, 22:7:16 ****: Any restrictions you encounter on your bets would be trading limits set by the trading department. With this being said the cap on each market would be different. It would be down to the traders discretion on what they can offer as each bet is taken on its own merit.
Now I know there are books who don't want to take any bets on Racing, but surely limiting stakes to 10p on the Grand National is absolutely ridiculous, and frankly embarrassing (I obviously won't be the only one either with these limits).
Ps - well done to BF Sportsbook who have shown PP right up, I am allowed a whopping £1.52 with them....

You could always ask Mart to act as a commission agent 
you will often find that max stakes on a restricted account will be win only

it must cost more than 10pence for them to process a bet.
the main thing is though have no fear when the press interview them over the aintree festival they will give them a real grilling over this type of practice.

flukes - I haven't received any messages and there are only a handful of people I would follow blindly. The horse I wanted to bet was Ucello Conti (and have bet it elsewhere now at 33s - they have cut the price into 20s now as well! I mean it is the National, so where is the 28s then 25s then 22s etc. No doubt they have had a load of money from the right faces and shrewdies blah blah blah...
not sure paddy considers £25ew at 33's 'recreational' punting. 25 pence at 13/8 maybe nearer the mark ....

Mouse - assume you are being ironic, but I am not too worried about the 6 places, but it is there on offer so why not take it if you can get it? Why don't they just say "you can have the 5 places as 6 places are for selected customers only"? I have bet it elsewhere anyway now.

paddys rewards club gives you a free bet if you stake £30 in a week, something like that. that is who he is after, punters who aspire to get to £30 a week - not £50 in one bet "non-recreationals" ...

If you only stake £30 a week the max they can take off you is £30. What sort of business model is that?

Risking a grand but having 39 runners running for them all at probably well under the odds, in a God knows what percentage book. If their so called "traders" cannot make a book on the National then they shouldn't be employed in the bookmaking industry.

I suppose once you have taken PP for 200 grand you get given VIP status, an account manager plus you can have what you want on. That's obviously where most of us have gone wrong I guess.

Try calling rather than chat. My account is also restricted but can normally get larger bets on the bigger races with them.
Limited to £1.11 on gas line boy last year. Look at my twitter simmoredarmyfaugheen and you will see what a disgrace they all are, just put up ladbrokes maximums for 4 of the biggest sporting events in the world. Absolutely shocking. Including 40 p max on the national on a 25/1 shot.
Prices the same in store yesterday, unlike the 7 place only on masters :( . Was able to get some hefty doubles on even though the cashier had to ring through to headoffice for biggest one. Annoying lengths to have to go to and an hour in the car but there you go.
