he has eaten and drunk richly for years, he isn't a fitness slave and eventually how we live catches up. Life is about enjoyment, I won't add balance because many don't want to balance the good and bad parts of lifestyle. Each to his own, he obviously feels up to doing a bit of graft again so fair play to him. Let's face it he has always lived life on his terms.

Report FELTFAIR March 18, 2018 1:18 PM GMT
His brain seems sharp but he definitely looks frail.
Report The Spinmaster March 18, 2018 1:22 PM GMT
His bed has been his office for years. Imagine the stink! He needs a fitbit.

Report eric_morris March 18, 2018 2:19 PM GMT
Only pundit to say it as it is i wish him well.
Report portmanpark March 18, 2018 2:57 PM GMT
I agree always liked him but I do fear for him.
Report sixtwosix March 18, 2018 3:09 PM GMT
He was terrific when Channel Four racing began , often picking up the vibes from the betting ring as to the outcome of a race.
Report muzza88 March 18, 2018 7:46 PM GMT
Big Mac was speaking as a guest of 'Star Sports' in our bar on Friday morning.

He was unable to stand with the mic and a chair had to be brought out for him. He has obviously lost weight. Couldn't get the mic to work and attempted to shout but as above poster said found it a struggle.

Was sad to see, thought he actually looked better on the Sunday forum than he did last week.

All the best to Big Mac.

Yes ,all the Best, a true Character ..
Report Steamship March 18, 2018 11:07 PM GMT
I remember him telling the viewers about Reference Point being one of Cecil's best horses before it's first race.
I think we forget how good he and C4 were for racing viewers during the 80's
Report duffy March 18, 2018 11:26 PM GMT
Sounded frail but your entitled to at his age and with his lifestyle, never had a problem with him I must say and had punters interests at heart much more than most in the game at present...Good luck Big Mac.
Report geoff m March 19, 2018 7:19 AM GMT
Had plenty of time for Big mac in his heyday, and his flamboyant character im sure attracted many to horse racing as opposed to the current clown Chapman who i find nothing but an irritating and annoying C*nt.

In 1979 he was the British Press Campaigning Journalist of the Year after a sustained investigation had revealed that certain Tote officials had transmitted money into betting pools after races had been run in order to reduce the pay-outs. Eventually a judicial inquiry investigated McCririck's findings and accepted that malpractice had taken place.

He has my sympathy if he is unwell as it looked yesterday but I have never liked him as a pundit. He has always seemed to be hostile to every trainer, owner and jockey. If I was looking at racing as an outsider he would put me off the sport for sure.
Report ghh March 19, 2018 8:48 AM GMT
Chapman is a egotistical clown and unfit to be even compared with Mac
Report cardifffc March 19, 2018 2:01 PM GMT
better comparison for chapman is thommo......
Report cardifffc March 19, 2018 2:05 PM GMT
don't think chapman has missed a day on ITV.....think he is afraid people will realise how much  more enjoyable the racing is without him

Sympathy if he is not well, but poor chap has not looked well for a few years, this pic was taken at least 3 years ago. He was a valuable part of the C4 team, and C4 threw him a lifeline when he needed it, but in the end he was way over the top with his views about women and big embarrassment on other TV appearances. Then his failed legal action against C4, huge mistake to launch that case claiming they axed him from its racing coverage because he was too old. He really had little chance of winning that case as he was on a rolling annual contract.
