THE ST. JAMES'S PLACE FOXHUNTER CHALLENGE CUP OPEN HUNTERS' STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 2)

The Veterinary Officer reported that a kit bag search of Alan Fleming, the trainer of FOXROCK (IRE), revealed possession of Pro-Dosa Boost Oral Paste, an electrolyte trace element replacer. The trainer, the Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed. The explanation of the trainer that it was unopened and had not been used was noted. Being satisfied that the gelding had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed FOXROCK (IRE) to run and the gelding was routine tested. They further confiscated the substance, ordered that it be tested, and referred the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.

The only reason why Pacha didn't win the first time was that Victoria rode to orders and was too far back. No blame attached to her. Don't forget that Bryony and Harriet are experienced riders even if they were inexperienced at the top level.

I backed Virak who was never going, nor was Wonderful Charm, and Unioniste's jockey is just about the least competent in the race. Caid de Berlais and Will Biddick ran really well in fifth.

Stewards fining R Johnson for whip abuse in G. Cup. How about calling in P Nichols
to explain the running of his other three runners in the Foxhunters - all comfortable LTW in Hunter Chases.

I personally don't believe trainers holding a pro license should run horses in the race let the ptp have their day its all a bit sad when the millionaire stewart family win the race which is not for them really.

that was one of the most truly bizarre winners I've ever seen, jockey just seemed to be trying not to fall off at the finish. I presumed the saddle must have slipped given the way she was hanging on to the horses neck!
Report olddesperado March 16, 2018 7:47 PM GMT
Burning ambition seemed to hurt himself after jumping the second or third last.

Looked the winner but landed very hard on his front legs and seemed to almost stop.

Lost ground very quickly after and was dismounted after the finish.

Hope he,s ok.

She dislocated her shoulder at one of the fences and managed to put it back in. Is on rp about it!.
Report tashkent terror March 16, 2018 7:56 PM GMT
bloob, the jockey was interviewed on RUK after race and she popped her right shoulder out raising the whip after the last.
She called it a half dislocation and was unable to pop it back in. Think she was too buzzing to feel any pain!

Burning Ambition finished lame with a bit of heat stroke I believe

Yes, but ...

From the owners' and trainers' point of view, yes, that's right.

But what about the riders? Both Stewart and Nicholls separately made the point that they are giving new jockeys a chance. This was Harriet Tucker's second ride under rules. Last year, Bryony Frost's win on the same horse was literally life-changing and she is now a professional (conditional) jockey.

Contrast that with some experienced amateurs who are almost professionals, like Codd to name but one, fishing around for the best rides, and being courted by trainers.

So yes, you're right but that's not the whole picture.
Report sixtwosix March 17, 2018 9:54 AM GMT
Balnaslow was well off the back after a circuit , but kept moving past the stragglers onto the back of a decreasing lead group.
Looked like it was a superb plan until tying up late on.
