looking to lay first 2/3 in most of the races at Cheltenham anyone point me in right direction of how they would stake this and is it also worth laying the same horses in place market?
Any help appreciated

If you have not done it before, Cheltenham is not a good meeting to start in. In theory, if you can lay the first 3 in the market with only a small loss, go for it. You will be paying out most times but if an outsider wins, you clean up.

W Mullins last 8 runners have gained 7 wins. So I wouldn't be rushing to lay anything he has running .

using a dutching calculator if you wish to clear a set amount should the lays get beat

Just lay Getabird tomorrow and quit the rest of the week.

Was thinking the 3 races tomorrow with short ones in to lay them alone or maybe  first 2 in betting and place market , with ground getting heavier maybe a chance of one  or two of them favs coming unstuck

Odds on at Cheltenham, is good for laying, even if they all win you can't lose much, if you get 2 or 3 beat your quids in profit. And of course all the hype will continue right up until the race begins, meaning punters will continue to back them.

All depends on your Bank and how much you are looking to win.

Heavy ground everyone knows all the outsiders win so if your new to the game you will clean up Grin

i suspect youd be a lamb to slaughter if youre starting out . there will be a lot liquidity and you might get lucky , but . do you know of over-rounds a staple of the layer? id stick to laying one or two u think will get beat and look into how to make a book before u jump into the deep end

i,ve never layed , ever . but i think mullins is in for a bad day , the vibes are weak for getabird . petit mouchiour will improve and footpads  still gotta beat san calvados , faugheen is likely gone ( in terms of the highest level ) . there will be a mountain of money for those . if i was laying id have a go at them

as a general rule:

don't lay odds-on horses

getabird is a decent value lay tomorrow at 15/8
other two are coo star sivola and de plotting shed both at 5/1. very weak favourites

don't lay odds-on at cheltenham that is^

some very crude calculations, the following % is in terms of value in laying the following horses
getabird 14.7% value
coo star sivola 6.7% value
de plotting shed 6.7% value

you get a lot more value in backing i find but i am not experienced in laying I repeat this is very crude but i think you'll make profit laying those two at 5/1

in general, these races are complete cr*p shoots. you've basically got 17 horses with you and 1 against you in the 2:50. you'd have to be very unlucky to lose there. you still need to be a very brave or a very rich man to do it. GL

Without layers on exchanges there would be no backers either! I can't see much difference, both involve backing your opinion/research with money. If you fancy a particular horse then back it. If you think that a horse can't win and you don't have any strong feelings about what else might win, lay it.
