April 2008 copy here (10 years) - £1:50
By:
Leicester win premier league
By:
look what they charge the bookies £5.25 per copy betting shop edition, the company have lost touch and will lose a lost of customers in my opinion.
By:
Surely tomorrow will only be £2.60.
By:
£2.90 everyone is saying for tomorrow, jmdc.
By:
Sorry sparrow, I cannot believe that.
By:
Absolutely shocking, bring it back to a pound again and i will buy it everyday.

if the 23% rise is true then its steep but...
working within printing industry i know that - paper costs are increasing rapidly, also readership of all papers are in decline. Ask people under say 30 last time they bought a paper... digital is killing the industry, numerous printers are going to the wall because people no longer need hard copies of things or they can download and print at home, online printers are squeezing margins even tigher best get used to increases or the racing post will exist only online. |
By:
It is true as my link above shows.
By:
Far far to many tipsters on the paper......Most of them are p1ss poor.
By:
Thanks for that sparrow. I still cannot see how the retail margins are the same when the original Saturday & Sunday retail prices were 30p more?
By:
Me neither jmdc. I can only assume that they are winding down the newspaper in the vain hope that we will all subscribe to the website.
By:
This increasing price to make up for falling readership can only go one way. I remember the boss of Royal Mail using this excuse when putting stamp prices up nearly 50%. Take this to it's conclusion and they will sell none once a tipping point is reached.
By:
Don't buy it. And don't upgrade your website subscription imo. Good luck Bruce, Alan & co
By:
I can visualise racegoers all walking around with laptops and the Security asking people to turn them off because the course "bookmakers" are complaining!
By:
They will have to invest in ipads or something of a similar size. I like reading form from the paper and just use the website for the back form but this increase makes you think twice.
By:
I am the same as you sparrow, but will NOT be walking around the ring with my mobile waiting for my next price boost, or Ray fcking Winstone telling me what to do, or some fcking cnt in space telling me that I'm no gonna die!
By:
I only go to a course about 3 times a year these days and don't really treat it as a serious punting day.
By:
Yes sparrow same here, and rail, admission prices have restricted me severely, without thinking of getting a bet on. Add to that my arthritis, then I will really miss my Racing Post!
By:
The problem is a total lack of competition which enables them to charge what they like. And that isn't going to change in the technological age we now live in. I will still buy it about 3 times a week though.
By:
Just one big urine take, handy for having the form in one place, that is all, the rest is toilet paper, run by a prize clown
By:
104 pages today, all i need are pages 36-66, its all the hangers on that are killing the price for me
By:
It is annoying as I never read any of these tipsters and how much of this £2.90 is that costing us?
By:
Having bought every day for decades, the RP became so woefully out of touch with the reality of being a punter in this country that I made the decision not to buy it any more about four years ago.
Genuinely, life is so much better not having to read protectionist industry propaganda, self serving puff pieces and blatant bookmaker lies every day... |
By:
expensive bog roll or budgie cage $h!t catcher
By:
It's worth reading it just to see how low Millington can sink. Never fails to disappoint. I will never pay for it again
By:
Just read it in the bookies(assuming you're near one) and use the money on an extra bet.
By:
Only will have Racing Post now for Cheltenham Aintree Royal Ascot
and Saturdays Had it every day from day one Even had it with the Sporting Life |
By:
Long term you can't survive when you're this out of touch with your readership. Same as Betfair really.
By:
off topic fear, hughes doesn't have much this year
![]() |
By:

By:
No surprise mate is it really. Reveley never used to get any either.
By:
last few years he's had double figure number of rides
I know jefferson team is smaller this year but even so |
By:
Still saying Hughes won't be riding at Hexham wonder?
By:
By:
You said categorically no, when I questioned you on here a month ago!
By:
presumed WP would run

Trouble is that the RP hard copy shows a lot more info than anything they do on line, so we are left to either pay up or get out. When you consider the % price increase IT IS SCANDALOUS...How many of us have had almost 100% salary increases in last 10 years ( or 23% salary increase in last year),which is what they are now charging us. As previous posting said, the trouble is there is NO COMPETITION and as always that is proving unhealthy
