Exactly the same happened not so long ago and the race was ok and the result stood.
Report howard February 24, 2018 7:53 PM GMT
I bet it wasn't exactly the same timing that was badly left
Report Big Boss February 24, 2018 7:56 PM GMT
only decent winner I've had all day after losing in about 3 photo finishes, bound to be void Laugh
Report dumplingheid February 24, 2018 7:56 PM GMT
I'm trying to get the race it was over 2 seconds later in opening and the field were twice the distance in front as this race
Report dumplingheid February 24, 2018 7:57 PM GMT
they have stated weigh in at the track
Report sparrow February 24, 2018 7:57 PM GMT
Can't believe how quiet it is on here after that. At one time there would have been at least 50 posts.
Report howard February 24, 2018 8:00 PM GMT
That may be because they haven't seen it. Think the trainer will be bringing it up later. Laugh What if this was a fav in the Nunthorpe ? You see it's nowt to do with the horse.

The race should be void but if it isn't then yes there should be money back on the horse but it sounds like nothing has happened as regards betting which is crazy. Why didn't the starter declare a false start ?
Report Big Boss February 24, 2018 8:09 PM GMT
cos flag didn't go up for false start, I think it will be result stands
Report dumplingheid February 24, 2018 8:10 PM GMT
I know that after the weigh in the result cannot be altered.
Report howard February 24, 2018 8:27 PM GMT
BB, that's correct  someone will get the blame but they never get the sack.
Report number 7 February 24, 2018 8:30 PM GMT
It looks like its not a problem, head start result stands
Report Willie Shafter. February 24, 2018 9:16 PM GMT

Report Willie Shafter. February 24, 2018 10:26 PM GMT

Race 5 - 7:45pm
THE 32Red CASINO HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4)

An enquiry was held into the faulty action of the starting stalls in this race. William Cox, the rider of CARP KID (IRE), placed third, the trainer John Flint and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident. It was found that there had been a fault with stall 5 resulting in it opening fractionally after the other stalls. Being satisfied that the malfunction had not materially prejudiced a sufficient number of runners and that the starting procedures had been properly carried out, no further action was taken but a report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authorit

I didn't see it but that does not sound right. The gates surely have to open at the same time. If that was the Derby and the favourite was affected then there would be outrage. It should be the same for all races. Void race or deem the horse a non-runner.
Report howard February 25, 2018 10:48 AM GMT
wazza the horse was perfectly still and didn't cause it. Therefore it was nothing to do with the horse or the jockey. If one of them is to blame then of course you have to take it but this was an equipment failure.
Report howard February 25, 2018 10:53 AM GMT
" ...the malfunction had not materially prejudiced a sufficient number of runners"  So in future everything is fine as long as only one horse has been left in the stalls ?
Report howard February 25, 2018 11:02 AM GMT
It's entirely possible that the horse could have finished 2nd rather than 3rd.  So betting winnings/losses involved as well as stakes.
Report roggrain February 25, 2018 1:29 PM GMT
Begs the question doesn't it Howard, what is a 'sufficient number of runners'?

Flint added: "I was told the rule is that 33 per cent of the horses have to be inconvenienced to have voided the race. But this needs to be looked at.
Report roggrain February 25, 2018 1:35 PM GMT
Best way to deal with this kind of thing would be to let the result stand for prize money but void all bets.
Report Willie Shafter. February 25, 2018 1:50 PM GMT
aye very strange..its cost it about 2L but they say no harm done..as been said it was derby and the fav they'd be uproar.
Report howard February 25, 2018 1:55 PM GMT
Yes you have to void all bets because these days it's layers as well as backers that could be s hafted. Imagine if an even money fav gets left in the Nunthorpe. Then layers could have big liabilities on the winner if the fav is beaten. Just cos it's a small race at Wolves should be same rules everywhere.
Report howard February 25, 2018 1:58 PM GMT
Pity it didn't happen in Lingers listed 5f race yesterdayDevil
