It's also only the Guineas in name, as it's only a listed race. 110K for a listed race is mental money, even the £29K you suggested would be high for a listed race. Top rated horse is 99 in race, which given the avg listed winner is a 108-112 horse, shows what a weak race it is. If it was on turf and not on dirt, big UK trainers and Irish trainers would train horses for that sort of purse, but given it's on dirt it's only really an attraction to the locals. But 110K for a listed contest is not to be sniffed at. |
