not sure if Chris Grant yesterday was appearing as Santa or Dick Turpin in Racing's pantomime, as was picked up elsewhere his massive drifter was laid at whatever price was asked even when seemingly controlling the race from the front. Fortunately for the place buyers connections weren't overly greedy. Happy Birthday, do something nice with loved ones if poss.

Happy 70th Mike and many more of them. I remember struggling to come to terms with turning 40 and my sister in law sent me a card from America saying, in tens years you'll kill to be 40!...

Lester is 82 and I remember the day he rode his first winner. Even then it made the BBC radio news. I also remember it for another reason as I was fishing with a friend at a pond and I fell in.

Next question, who on here has been retired for the longest time? I retired in 1994 when I was 59.
My dad, 2 years younger than you, retired '86 and mortgage (5bed house in berks) paid off in 90. Fairly middle/high ranking manager in BT and took first (and as it turns out best) 'redundancy' offer when they culled many many workers. The yoof of today don't know how lucky they are not having to worry about not losing their job for life and thus paying off that mortgage........

Don't know the month as he died when I was very young. Could possibly find out if I asked my soon to be 91 year old sister.
He was born same year as your dad, 1899.
