I didnt back it but the jockey has to be banned FACT. Joe Colliver gave a horse a similar ride a few weeks ago and got a 10 day ban James best has to be banned for insufficient effort according to the rules.

According to some on the forum here the horse is a bridle ponce, strange that when best started putting in some effort the horse was closing and responding

Anyone who knows that horse, knows it's the only way you can ride him.

Racing is bent ,lol, end of , the horses are not run for us punters , Anyone like to guess on what percentages of horses turn up to the track with no intentions of running to their true ability ! It`s all about the money , lol

Horse is a softie, finds nowt, was never winning. Best said in an interview prior to the race that he'd ride him exactly like that.

^^^ That.

Hard to believe that would have beaten the winner however he was ridden particularly considering the horse has a proven track record of hanging the latch.

I backed the horse and was happy with the ride, when he went for him it took all of the run in to get past the 3rd, may have picked up a little better on quicker going but was never going to out battle anything, I took the opinion that some of the front runners at Kempton would be stopping in the ground which gave Pilgrims Bay a good chance but everything plodded on up the home straight at the same pace.
Report 1830 December 27, 2017 4:30 PM GMT
The horse finds nothing and took a long time to go past the second.
No issues with that.
However why was he sat still on the horse going to the last four lengths down.
He could easily have eased that horse up to within a length going to the last.
He then would have had a chance of taking the whole of the run in to go past the eventual winner.
Not saying it would have gone past, but 4 lengths down going to the last going well,Im not having it.

every man and his dog appears to know it's a dodgepot and was never going past .... must have cleaned up i/r

On better ground the old RP Chase/ Betbright whatever it is called these days is probably the long term plan for Pilgrims Bay at the end of February, don't think he did anything wrong today, it wasn't run to suit.

what makes you think he could easily have moved 3 lengths closer between the last 2 given the horse was all out to make up a length on the run-in?
Report 1830 December 27, 2017 5:23 PM GMT
OK Mybe he couldnt.
However the rules say you must make the effort.
Report impossible123 December 27, 2017 5:27 PM GMT
The horse usually travels well but finds little at the business end nevertheless. The horse crept into the race beautifully but had had a couple of less than perfect jumps at the crucial penultimate and last flight thus ending his chance of a victory.

Hate his way of "riding", often sits too far out of his ground or goes wide giving ground away, did both recently on mates horse having its first run in a bumper, couldn't have ridden it any worse, jumped off last, then goes wide, a bit of effort at one point but about 6 wide, horse could never ever contend from where it was and was btn about 18 lngths, prob exactly the amount of ground it wasted, pray they don't use him next time. Didn't see tdy so can't comment but can imagine it.

"Didn't see tdy so can't comment but can imagine it".  Just the kind of info you need to form a reasonable assessment of today's ride.
Report ph. December 28, 2017 2:00 AM GMT
going for it between the last two may well have cost it second. He openly admitted pre race it was kid glove treatment only, the presenters call it awkward or unreliable in a finish. The horse is a pig, it doesn't want to battle or hurt by bursting its lungs through over exertion. That doesn't mean it won't nick a good race on the bridle as the leaders blow up or fall in a hole. It won't win one eyeing up a hardy rival up the run in. Getting stuck in earlier gets it beaten further, some people need to follow another sport if surprised by the outcome. As mentioned by others it took forever to get by the third.
