Concur.. R H would not employ him if he couldn't do the job ! Better than the 7 lbs !
|
|
By:
Once again though like for many decent apprentices, much will depend on what happens once he loses his claim and what kind of rides he will then get and from where?
|
|
By:
By then ima all the value of those claims will have been missed by the punter.
|
|
By:
He looks nailed-on for the apprentice title. There's some value in his 7 pounds right now
|
|
By:
ima-that's the point of the thread in time I think he may well be capable of dealing with the claim loss
in the meantime 7 is an absolute steal especially if you fancy one |

He is back. The rider expert

Didn't think his ride on Dangerous Ends (01/12/17) was too good. He was too aggressive on a horse that's usually held up, simply because he was drawn 1 and wanted to maintain his rail position.

I didn`t think Ryan Moore rode well on many occasions this year. I hope that helps...PHS

I do rate him but I'm thinking long term in response to the statement "but in time I think he could be very good indeed."
What people like comedygold seem to struggle to grasp is that other jockeys like Kieran O'Neill and Cam Hardie were decent apprentices at Hannon's and now that both have lost their claim, they struggled for rides there when Hannon started to use his next lot of apprentices like Tom Marquand, Holly Doyle and now Rossa Ryan. Within the yard, O'Neill now has to compete for rides at levels with the likes of Pat Dobbs, Sean Levey, Tom Marquand, Ryan Moore and Timmy Murphy, who are either attached to the yard or have a long-standing history or getting rides there. Then factor in owner/jockey arrangements at the yard which puts a squeeze on jockeys like O'Neill, who has had 81 rides for Hannon this year as opposed to Levey having had 371 and even Ryan Moore despite his commitments elsewhere has had 76, Hollie Doyle has had 124 and Rosa Ryan has had 61. Cam Hardie has even had to leave the yard to gets rides elsewhere. |

His mount was much the better horse in that race...pulled like a train most of the race and rally should have won easily if he had settled.

delta,
did you not tip him for the last seasons apprentice title? didn't get much support from r hannon, maybe he will this season. |
|
By:
indeed ashleigh, premature here as usual.
as you say R Hannon a bit slack in his support this term, maybe not wanting to repeat a Cam Hardie situation, but then all the AW wins now aint gonna help here! |

In what respect sewter lives again?
|
|
By:
just jesting but you will probably tell me it is too early wait till he loses his claim etc
my assertion that he is well worth the claim is looking good at the moment though |
|
By:
I did start my previous post in the thread by saying "I do rate him" but have seen plenty of top notch former apprentices struggle for rides and winners once their claim has gone.
Not having the claim doesn't suddenly make them bad jockeys or forget how to ride, it's just that they won't have as much appeal to trainers if they lack the experience of older jockeys or can no longer take weight off a horse's back like currently claiming apprentices can. |

Out with your wheelbarrow ... following the 'miracle' from MHT, earlier? |

By:
I'm gonna get him a turf winner this year!
|
|
By:
good ride that, assertively getting the horse to the front, having said that was probably riding to orders and most jockeys could have won on that.

3.75 on that animal tho jesus bet the stable loaded up! wish i'd been more confident than a small stake but oh well
