Following publication of the Disciplinary Panel reasons pertaining to the David Evans “Black Dave” case, the Horseracing Bettors Forum will be writing formally to the Gambling Commission to express its concern about some of the details highlighted therein. In particular, HBF will ask the Gambling Commission to look further into the circumstances regarding possible Rule 4 manipulation related to Ladbrokes’ prior knowledge of a horse’s intended withdrawal. HBF has shared its concerns about possible Rule 4 manipulation with the Gambling Commission previously, and the latter saw fit to issue a statement on the matter in January of this year. HBF views this example as an especially troubling one which requires further investigation. 29 November 2017 |

I would like the HBF to ask the BHA what, if anything they are doing about hurdles/fences being omitted because of low sunlight? When are they going to publish a list of offenders in the same way they have now done with trainers and non runners? Once a fixture has had to omit hurdles/fences because of low sun, shouldn't that fixture be immediately investigated and either moved to a different day, or times/running order of races be revised so that the same thing does not happen on the corresponding fixture next year. Is there a page within the BHA website that indicates what courses/fixtures low sunlight may happen, and on what probability scale?
Also, in big large print on the BHA homepage, I would like to see something along the lines of: THIS SITE IS ONLY HERE, ARE WAGES CAN ONLY BE PAID, IF PUNTERS LOSE AND CARRY ON LOSING. Or is that statement incorrect? |

tbf I would question pretty much anything he says given his RP connection but that aside can someone tell me what is happening regarding making in-running betting fairer to the betting public? or is it a case of "if you millennials dont like being hoovered then go and bet on something else"?. There can be little more off putting to someone new to betting on horse racing than getting their pocket picked. In-play betting is the biggest growth area since the internet came along, racing could be top of that list if latency was reduced to a minimum, its far more exciting than other sports, it should be a growth area but its not, my guess is it would be if bookmakers could make money from it but the HBF serves punters not bookmakers, right? |

so what is happening regarding this very important matter?
the vast majority of in-running punters are watching feeds in excess of the bet processing delay (1 second), this is crucially damaging as it means they cannot leave bets up for fear of being hoovered for horses falling etc, the answer is to have an industry standard where punters can watch pictures off course of less than 1 second latency, we know its possible to achieve so why do we not have them? have these questions been asked to ruk/atr and also in respect of the betfair LV from their tracks? bets matched IR yield levy, a fairer playing field means more turnover and wider participation/interest in the sport of horse racing, particularly imo from those new to racing |

Rowlands has little interest in in-running betting imo. If he did it would be higher up the agenda. Even that Matthew Mantle/Star Sports blog mentioned the joke delays on ATR.
Funnily enough @boots111 is an in-running player on the panel but he tweeted something along the lines of haha a fast pics player done their money. Imo this is the wrong approach. It's the TV companies/media to blame not those taking advantage and if he's on the HBF he should be representing ALL punters not just the ones he thinks are moral. |

thefear, i would bet more simply because the liquidity would be better and I could also bet at stages of the race i currently do not, as i understand it the HBF represents the interests of the customer for the benefit of horse racing, both could benefit mutually regarding this issue
when a horse falls or breaks down you know it first (as an off course punter) through the betfair odds, thats not right and what also is not right is the innocent in-running punters who have their money hoovered, what is the oldest saying in betting - if you cannot win then you should not be able to lose - well thats clearly not the case here and needs addressing |

These firms come in for a fair bit of abuse from time to time, but when I hear a story about the extraordinary level of decency and compassion that they show occasionally, it’s only fair that these deeds are given the recognition that they so deserve. My pal had his Christmas money , €600 on some reign in one of their shops, this afternoon. Well obviously disaster struck , and the horse refused to race. But all was not lost , far from it in fact, and you can imagine the huge relief when spoils announced that they were refunding all singles . My pal was so happy , and he hugged all the staff , he was so happy . There were tears in his eyes , tears of unbridled joy. He may have no money for Christmas but the € 25 free bet that spoils so kindly gave him , has saved the day . He was so happy and so relieved that he didn’t do the horse in a double as this wonderful concession didn’t extend to singles. Take a bow , spoils , not every hero wears a cape. THIS SORT OF FALSE ADVERTISING IF WHAT IS MOST GALLING TO THE ORDINARY PUNTER. HE DIDNT EVEN GET 25 E BACK.IT WAS A FREE BET |

not sure hbf can do anything about the situation we have with so many small fields in national hunt racing if they can it should be top of the agenda.
