Having trawled through hundreds of Bookmaking establishments I thought there was nothing left to
see , surprise one or generally draw a “WOW” out of me.
Friday 17th November has now replaced all other dates as the day bookmaking truly died.
A chap I have never met before had the audacity to try and claim a winning bet , only to be met
with a more audacious bookmaker refusing to stump up the cash.
In short the bet was £60 for a team to be leading at Half time yielding £216 return.
Both parties agreed that it was a winning bet ,placed in accordance with all rules,
no dispute about it whatsoever.
The Bookie employee whether under instruction or of his own valition told the Punter
he was a regular winner in other establishments and his business was not wanted....
Further to this , in order to be paid he would have to write into head office and have a cheque sent out.
Naturally the Punter was furious but after scattering some unused betting slips as confetti
he began a structured question and answer with the manager.
Various reasons were put forward for non payment with the central focus on “ It is in the rules”.
Examination of the rules yielded no confirmation of this ,as only “VOID” bets could be treated
in this manner.
The rules state that the Bookie will act in a fair manner ....a manner in which society would give a nodding approval I suppose.
In this obvious case of unfair treatment, the Punter proceeded to politely inform every potential
punter in the shop ,to consider carefully the ramifications of placing a bet with this outfit.
The next action by the bookmaker wandered into the realms of farce ....
THE POLICE WERE CALLED.
Fantastic to watch as Bookie then punter, then Bookie then punter took turns to speak to an exasperated Police telephonist who was desperate not to dispatch any officers.
Agreeing with both sides in turn he/she attempted to find a solution to no avail...
Wetherspoons next door heard of the dispute and punters appeared periodically to enquire if
WELCHING on bets was company policy , the sums got bigger , the winning bet more distorted as the rumour spread through the little town of Heywood....Monkey Town as it is known.
So if you pass through or reside there , take care as the bet is still in dispute with no payment made.
There are cheeky monkeys here who will steal your stake and run up a tree , refusing to return it with any profit , unless you climb up to get it.
Ask for your cash in this town they will call the Police...modern bookies don’t like winners.
There are 3 bookmakers in Heywood , William Hill have 2 shops , Bet Fred have 2 shops and
David Plucks have one......
The Folk in Wetherspoons now refer to Plucks as DP ...
Department of Prosecutions I assume.

What the Pluck !!! A refusal to pay because he was a regular winner in OTHER establishments?! What the Pluck has it got to do with them what he does in other establishments? Also how do they know ? Is there a breach of Data Protection going on perhaps by said other establishments? If that is suspected he should CALL THE POLICE and report it !
I would suggest locals protest outside the shop until he is payed, media are contacted and invited to attend and in the meantime issue a court summons for the debt to be paid along with a sum for distress caused! |

Civil dispute ..... great idea to phone the police (not). Good for the police member of staff for not sending an officer. They are stretched enough without having to waste further resources helping a bunch of adults (well, over 18's presumably) resolve an issue like that, whatever the rights and wrongs. All on a par with asking police to attend because "the bloke in the kebab shop never give (sic) me the onions I paid for, so I want you lot 'ere naaaaaaaaaah or else". Last person to leave, please turn out the lights. |

Smash up their fobts and claim they have ruined your life. They certainly DON'T call the police when that happens! At least I have never heard of then doing so.

My guess is that the DP stands for double penetration where they try to fcuk you both ways.
