BATTAASH looks a good thing, but maybe it's foolish to write Aurelia off

BATTAASH won two egg and spoon races at Sandown and was flattered by the ground last time.  imho

Peaked at Royal Ascot last year then her form tailed off a fair bit - Bataash a different horse this year - poor draw at Sandown and yet destroyed what was put in front of him - then was meant to hate the unsuitable soft ground at Goodwood yet sluiced in again -will be a fascinating race for sure but I'm deffo with Battaash on this occasion

Conclusion: The three lowest stalls enjoy a big advantage over the rest of the field and have the benefit of racing against the rail. The wider you are drawn the harder it is to win

Lady Aurelia can settle and has the better draw. Not convinced by Battash yet and if it comes to a battle I think that Lady Aurelia might just have the edge. Also Frankie must be an asset in this type of race compared to Crowley. A genuine 2 horse race if there is ever such a thing so 6-4 or so about whichever one you fancy must be good value. Good luck to all and lets hope its as good a race as expected.

Battaash for me, were the ground quick I would pick the filly.

Hopefully a cracker.

Not beyond the realms that they cud cut each others throats and something picks em up but that's the beauty of it all - nobody knows till the fat lady sings

The 5 furlong course is currently good ground.  No rain due tonight / tomorrow according to forecasts.. Should be fine for Lady Aurelia imo.

Why does everyone think LA doesn't like soft ground... remember Ascot last year?

I think Frankie will try to hold onto Lady Aurelia whereas from the draw Battaash probably has to go flat out - I hope Frankie will not be mugged into a war but you never know. I just cannot see any of the others getting near these two but stranger things have happened especially at York\.

First of all I hope it is one or the other.

They have both beaten the same horses. I would go with Battaash on the basis that we don't know yet whether Lady Aurelia can reproduce the same level away from Ascot.

Frankie all the way, from start to finish.if you ask Frankie what time of day it is he will tell you to the second and he never looks at a watch or clock,he has a time piece brain down to the mili second.
Just like the guy who has a photographic memory who can tell you what he read Frankie can do the same with time he can even tell you the time it took him to run a race.Wink

After reading this thread I'm no farther forward, it reflects the betting of course.

It could come down to the jockeys and Frankie has given a couple of horses who just aren't quite good enough great rides in defeat on the sprint course.

will  be backing lady aurielia in a match with baatash but as with many of these "2 horse races  think there may be a suprise and a few  appeal at big odds in the win market on here  ,in particular    goldream at a massive price on here  plus final venture  and take cover will do for me .

Lady Aurelia is a Spring Speedball Rocket and the ground is drying out all the time. Ive backed the Lady & Marsha. If Frankie leads you wont keep up with this horse. I dont think Marsha has alot to find after the Palace house win. I just think the track will suit Marsha. I combine the Newmarket track similar to York, people may disagree. Just my viewsHappy...

It may well be a no bet race for me.

I couldn't split Churchill or Ulysses so shouldn't have had a bet, at the last minute I backed Churchill.Sad

Ive backed marsha.Think the front 2 in the betting are hard to separate.Hope the ground dries up for marsha. This years form the front 2 in the betting are about the same in terms of times but if LA puts up the time performance of the QM think the rest are in trouble.
