Interesting race tomorrow. Signs of Blessing must have a good chance especially if the ground eases any further. Plus, could Caravaggio become the next Air Force Blue?

Excuses can be made for Caravaggio's July Cup defeat, reared up as the stalls opened, puzzling ride from Moore who appeared to believe he could win as he pleased nay to get hampered and never subsequently got properly into the race. The fact he beat his pacemaker, Intelligence Cross (100/1) only  a neck with Growl, 50/1 just behind proves that formline all wrong.

Taking that into consideration, if Caravaggio starts Evens or better, FILL YER BOOTS!!

Two horse race, Caravaggio and Signs Of Blessing,i have backed Caravaggio and covered the bet with Signs.

Looks ridiculously short given everything suited with the fast pace at Ascot then Brando finished by far the better over a slowly run 6f. This race looks hot too, lay all day for me.
Report tanglefoot August 6, 2017 1:28 PM BST
If a lay is suggested, then Signs Of Blessing at 5/1 is a gift.
Report impossible123 August 6, 2017 2:24 PM BST
Hoping for a fast pace, with Caravaggio sitting just behind; Moore must not be afraid to take it up (if necessary) with 2f or 1.5f to go. I'm expecting him to win handsomely then take on Harry Angel in the Haydock Sprint before jetting off to Australia for the Everest or the Prix La Foret on Arc Day.

They think the world of this horse. I loaded up at 2.1, truly a monster price. If it wasn't for his hiccup in July which they won't get wrong again then it would be 1.4 today, which would be it's true price. This really is a gift.

Tanglefoot...You like your jollie. Not knocking you but do make money from punting. We are always told you must find value.I think the fav is the most likely winner but I think evens wouldn't appeal to me.
Report A_T August 6, 2017 2:50 PM BST
gotta be a lay - not a wonder horse
Report granitjack August 6, 2017 2:53 PM BST
Didn't see the race....but I take it another Air Force Blue then?!

Moore takes blind fold off... didnt jump
Report impossible123 August 6, 2017 2:55 PM BST
Well done brando backer! Caravaggio going nowhere, slowly away again.
Report duffy August 6, 2017 2:56 PM BST
Just looking at him staying on a bit I think they might actually try stepping him up in trip, a polar opposite of this time last year, now he's simply being taken off of his feet.
Report geoff m August 6, 2017 2:57 PM BST
looks like he needs further than 6
Report sparrow August 6, 2017 2:57 PM BST
Well done layers.
Report BestShot August 6, 2017 2:57 PM BST
Haha this is why there is so much because of mugs who thought evs was value never mind 1.75 wow
Report pa lapsy August 6, 2017 2:57 PM BST

Rogue!
Report granitjack August 6, 2017 2:59 PM BST
Like I said in my original post he could be the next Air Force Blue and it's going that way.....if I were Coolmore I would retire the horse now before it loses any more credibility....
Report A_T August 6, 2017 3:03 PM BST
will be retired now. the July Cup knocked a zero off the hoped-for stud fee - this may well have removed another

A bit of a boilover that race,WD if u backed Brando, portmanpark,i certainly have not lost money overall in the
last year, but take it as a hobby, not to make a fortune.
Like two still today,Kimberella 4.15 Chester and Strong Team e/w 5.40 Market Rasen,so u see not always favs
Report portmanpark August 6, 2017 3:11 PM BST
bit of a boilover.Brando beat the fav last time so not one that was impossible to pick.I go the opposite of you .I bet only horses over 10\1.I backed Breton rock and here comes when last week plus a score of losers. But I don't need like you a very high strike rate.I mainly back in listed or above races and occasional  high class hcap.
Report roadrunner46 August 6, 2017 3:41 PM BST
Caravaggio was priced up right for the race imo, its the other horse that was priced wrong
Report sparrow August 6, 2017 3:44 PM BST
If Caravaggio was priced up right we should all become layers.
Report impossible123 August 6, 2017 4:04 PM BST
A significant portion of the price of Caravaggio post his defeat in the July Cup could be attributed to his trainer/connections, I'd have thought, similarly with the majority of Moore/AOB combination the price disparity reflected in the stable's other runners in the same race.

Given his below par performance today, in the July Cup, and (possibly) his exertion to overcome a rear-up and slower start in the Commonwealth Stakes (yet won) could he be suffering from a recurrence of the injury that caused him to miss the back-end of last season ie a pulled muscle? Unless he has regressed, or been running over the wrong distance (sprint) - his win in the Commonwealth Stakes negates this possibility - Caravaggio has not looked the same horse since the Commonwealth win. Thus, it would not surprise me if AOB gives him a long rest before his next outing - La Foret (7f) perhaps; the Everest (6f) in Australia is looking very unlikely now if a step-up in distance is the next progression for him.
